The Trixie Multi-Room Corner House 3-Room is a compact wooden shelter for small rodents that like to sleep, hoard, and organize their enclosure into distinct corners. Thanks to the corner shape, the house fits nicely against the edge of the enclosure, leaving you with plenty of room to move and dig.
DRD chooses multi-chamber houses because they align well with natural behavior. Small rodents enjoy using multiple spaces: a sleeping area, a storage spot, and a quiet passageway or hiding place. This corner house has 3 chambers, an open base, and a removable roof. As a result, it fits beautifully into Hamsterscaping, Gerbilscaping, and natural interior designs.
✔ Made of natural wood
✔ Nail-free design, great for gnawing animals
✔ 3 rooms for sleeping, hiding, and hoarding behavior
✔ Open bottom for use directly on the bedding
✔ Removable roof for relaxed inspection
✔ Ideal for Hamsterscaping and Gerbilscaping
A multi-chamber house gives your pet more choice than a standard one-chamber house. In nature, many small rodents use burrows with multiple chambers. One chamber is used for sleeping, another for storing food, and yet another as a passageway or safe hiding place. This corner house mimics that principle in a compact way.
The corner shape is practical when you want to keep the enclosure organized. You can place the house against the edge or in a corner, so it takes up less space in the middle of the enclosure. This leaves more room for bedding, a running wheel, sandpit, tunnels, cork, and other natural furnishings.
The removable roof also makes the house convenient for you. You can easily check for old food stashes, wet nesting material, or soiled spots without lifting the entire house. This causes less disturbance for your animal and makes maintenance easier.
This corner house is not suitable as a shelter for guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, and ferrets. The rooms and total interior space are too small for them. For these animals, it is better to choose a larger house that truly matches their body size and way of moving.
Hamsterscaping and gerbilscaping revolve around an enclosure setup that supports behavior. Think of digging, hiding, hoarding, nesting, creating routes, and moving materials. A multi-chamber house fits well with this, as it provides structure to the enclosure.
Thanks to its corner shape, this house can be beautifully integrated against the wall of the enclosure. Place the house low and stable, possibly slightly recessed into the bedding. This way, it blends in more naturally with tunnels, cork, bedding, and other aquascaping materials.
Tip: Place a small amount of dried moss or a light natural decoration on the roof. This gives it a beautiful natural look and makes the little house an even more lovely part of the interior.
The corner house has an open bottom. This allows your animal to pull bedding and nesting material inside itself. This suits animals that like to build their own nest or set up storage dens. The open bottom also ensures that the house remains airier than a completely closed wooden house.
Place the house firmly on the bottom of the enclosure. For animals that dig frequently, such as gerbils and hamsters, it is advisable to sink the house slightly into the bedding. Check occasionally to ensure the house is not tilting or being undermined.
The removable roof is practical when you want to check the nest or stash. Hamsters, in particular, can hoard food and sometimes bring fresh food into their little house. With a removable roof, you can take a quick look without moving the entire house.
Check calmly and only when necessary. The house is a safe place for your pet. By carefully lifting the roof, you can perform maintenance without unnecessarily disturbing the nest.
This house is nail-free. That is a nice advantage for animals that gnaw on wooden houses, such as hamsters, gerbils, and degus. Wood is a material used in a rodent enclosure and can be examined, worked on, or gnawed on by animals.
Regularly check the house for wear, sharp edges, or loose parts. Nail-free does not mean the house will last indefinitely; it primarily means it is a better fit for animals that enjoy working on their interior. Replace the house when it becomes too damaged or unstable.
The openings are approx. Ø 8 cm. This is spacious for mice and dwarf hamsters. For hamsters, it is important to always consider your animal's build. A hamster must be able to walk through the opening comfortably, even when the cheek pouches are filled.
For rats and degus, the opening is not the only consideration. The total interior space and height are also important. Use this house for these animals only if the size truly suits the animal and the way you intend to use the house.
In this video, you can see how a multi-room house fits into a natural interior. Use it primarily as inspiration; every enclosure and every animal requires a unique layout.
It is best to clean a wooden house while it is as dry as possible. Lift the roof, remove old food supplies, and take away wet or soiled nesting material. Use moisture only when absolutely necessary, and allow the wood to dry thoroughly before replacing the house.
This multi-room corner house bears the Tierschutz-Kennzeichen. This is an Austrian animal welfare label for products that have been positively assessed by the Fachstelle für tiergerechte Tierhaltung und Tierschutz. The assessment considers legal regulations, animal welfare, practical application, and the suitability of the product.
For you as an owner, this provides extra reassurance: the product is not only designed as a shelter, but has also been evaluated from the perspective of animal-oriented use.
