Trixie Brisko Toilet with Rim 50 cm for guinea pigs and rabbits
The Trixie Brisko Toilet with Rim 50 cm is a spacious plastic toilet for guinea pigs and rabbits. Many animals choose one or more fixed spots in their enclosure to urinate or defecate. By placing a toilet at precisely that spot, you make daily cleaning more manageable and can often keep the rest of the enclosure tidy for longer.
Thanks to its generous size of approximately 50 x 38 x 11 cm, this toilet is particularly practical for guinea pigs and rabbits. The rim helps to keep litter better contained, and the plastic material is easy to clean. This makes the Brisko handy for owners who want to create a larger, stable toilet area in an enclosure, run, or permanent hay corner.

Why choose a spacious toilet?
For guinea pigs and rabbits, size matters. A toilet must be large enough to step in easily, turn around, and sit comfortably. A toilet that is too small is more likely to be missed or ignored. The 50 cm Brisko Toilet offers more space, making it a better fit for larger animals and for owners who want to create a clear toilet area.
For rabbits, a toilet can often be made a good part of the daily routine. Many rabbits naturally choose a favorite corner. If you place a spacious toilet there with suitable litter, cleaning often becomes much easier.
Toilet training works differently for guinea pigs. Guinea pigs do not always become fully house-trained, but many do have favorite spots where they frequently urinate or defecate. You often see guinea pigs spending a lot of time, especially near a hay bed. By placing a litter box under or next to the hay bed, you often catch a large portion of the mess.
For which animals is the Trixie Brisko Toilet with Rim 50 cm suitable?
- Guinea pig: suitable as a spacious toilet or potty area in the enclosure. Place the toilet in a fixed spot where your guinea pigs frequent, for example near the hay area.
- Rabbit: suitable as a large toilet in an enclosure, run, or rabbit room. Combine with absorbent litter and optionally a hay rack above or next to the toilet.
For mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, and gerbils, this toilet is too large and not practical as a toilet. For rats, dwarf rats, chinchillas, and degus, the tray can sometimes be used as a large digging box or temporary play area, but as a toilet, we primarily target this product at guinea pigs and rabbits. Always pay close attention to plastic edges around gnawing animals and remove the tray if it is being gnawed on.
Usage & placement
First, observe where your pet often urinates or defecates on its own. That is usually the best place to put the litter box. Transfer droppings or a small amount of used litter to the new box so that the scent helps make the spot recognizable.
Fill the bottom with a layer of absorbent toilet litter. The layer does not need to be extremely thick, but it must be able to absorb sufficient moisture. Remove wet spots daily and top up where necessary. Clean the toilet thoroughly regularly, depending on how many animals use it.
For guinea pigs and rabbits, a litter box often works particularly well in combination with hay. These animals eat a lot throughout the day and enjoy spending time at a hay spot. Therefore, place a hay rack, hay bag, or hay bin near the litter box so that eating and toilet behavior come together in a practical way.
Gradually build up toilet training
Do not expect every animal to immediately understand what the purpose is. Some rabbits use a litter box almost right away, while other animals need time. Guinea pigs often will not become fully house-trained, but they may have clear preferred spots. The main goal is therefore to collect dirt better and make cleaning easier.
Clean up accidents outside the litter box calmly and place droppings in the litter tray. Put the litter box back in the spot where your animal prefers to sit or urinate. If you keep placing the litter box in a random spot, it becomes less clear to your animal.
Which toilet filler do you use?
Choose a toilet filler that absorbs moisture well and is easy to remove. You often use a different filler in the toilet than in the rest of the enclosure. This makes it easier to scoop out wet spots specifically and refill.
Do not use sharp, dusty, or strongly perfumed materials. Guinea pigs and rabbits, in particular, often sit with their noses close to the bedding and litter. Good litter should above all be absorbent, practical, and suitable for the animal.
Cleaning and maintenance
Remove wet spots, dirty filler, and residue from the toilet daily. Regularly flush or wipe down the plastic toilet with lukewarm water and dry it thoroughly before adding new toilet filler. For stubborn deposits, you can let the toilet soak for a while and then rinse well.
Check the edges regularly for signs of gnawing. Plastic is practical and easy to clean, but it is not intended as gnawing material. Replace the toilet when sharp edges, cracks, or damage occur.
Great to combine with
The Trixie Brisko Toilet with Rim 50 cm fits well with a permanent toilet and hay station. You can combine it with:
- Toilet filler for rodents and rabbits
- Rabbit toilets
- Guinea pig toilets
- Hay racks for rabbits
- Hay racks for guinea pigs
- Hay for rodents and rabbits
Good to know
Use the toilet with suitable litter and check regularly to ensure your animal is not gnawing on the plastic. Place the toilet in a fixed location and do not clean it completely odorless too often while your animal is still getting used to it; a slightly familiar scent can aid in the training. Replace the toilet when it becomes damaged or develops sharp edges.
