Getzoo Dwarf Hamster Food Basic Menu 500 grams is a natural, complete staple food for dwarf hamsters. The mix consists of seeds, grains, herbs, flowers, and leaves and contains no pressed pellets. As a result, your dwarf hamster receives a food that can not only be fed but also encourages searching, collecting, and foraging.

At DRD, when it comes to dwarf hamster food, we focus primarily on fine seeds, texture, species-appropriate composition, and how a dwarf hamster utilizes the food. Why choose Getzoo Dwarf Hamster Food Basic Menu?

Dwarf hamsters are small, active collectors. They enjoy searching for fine seeds, carrying food to their stash, and using their enclosure not only to eat but also to explore. A pellet-free mix with loose seeds and plant parts suits this well, as it allows your pet more choice, smell, and collect.

Getzoo Dwarf Hamster Food Basic Menu is built around grass seeds, millet varieties, buckwheat, and other fine seeds. Herbs, flowers, and leaves are added for extra scent, color, and variety. This creates a natural mix that suits dwarf hamsters who enjoy foraging.

An important advantage of this food is that no animal proteins have been added. This allows you to offer insects separately and better tailor them to your dwarf hamster. This is practical when you want to consciously vary the diet with, for example, mealworms, crickets, shrimp, or other suitable animal protein sources.

For which animals is Getzoo Dwarf Hamster Food Basic Menu suitable?

  • Dwarf hamster: suitable as a complete staple food for Russian dwarf hamsters, Campbell's dwarf hamsters, Roborovski dwarf hamsters, and Chinese dwarf hamsters. The fine seeds, grass seeds, herbs, and flowers complement the active foraging and gathering behavior of dwarf hamsters.

This food is specifically formulated for dwarf hamsters. For mice, Syrian hamsters/golden hamsters, gerbils, dwarf rats, rats, guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, and degus, it is preferable to choose a food specifically formulated for that species. This ensures the basic diet remains better tailored to the animal, its nutritional needs, and its natural eating behavior.

How do you feed Getzoo Dwarf Hamster Food Basic Menu?

Feed Getzoo Dwarf Hamster Food Basic Menu daily as the main food. A practical guideline for a dwarf hamster is approximately 5 to 7 grams of food per day. The exact amount depends on the species, age, activity level, condition, and what additional herbs, vegetables, seeds, or animal protein you offer.

Dwarf hamsters are kept solitarily as pets. Therefore, the consumption indication below is based on 1 dwarf hamster. Regularly check whether your animal is eating the food properly and whether strong selection is not occurring where only favorite seeds are being chosen.

  • Give an appropriate portion daily and remove old leftovers in a timely manner.
  • Scatter some of the food throughout the enclosure to encourage searching and hoarding.
  • Check storage areas, as dwarf hamsters like to take and store food.
  • Combine with suitable animal proteins, herbs, and small amounts of fresh vegetables for variety.
  • Store the food in a dry, cool, and tightly sealed place.

How long does this bag last?

The packaging contains 500 grams of dwarf hamster food. Because dwarf hamsters are kept solitarily as pets, we calculate this based on 1 dwarf hamster. We use a practical guideline of approximately 5 to 7 grams of food per day.

Number of animals Daily portion Consumption indication 500 g
1 dwarf hamster approx. 5–7 g per day approximately 71–100 days

This is a practical guideline. The actual duration depends on the species of dwarf hamster, activity level, condition, eating habits, and how much additional herbs, vegetables, seeds, or animal protein you offer.

Foraging with dwarf hamster food

Dwarf hamsters are true foragers. That is why it is good not to provide all the food in a food bowl as standard. By scattering part of the daily portion throughout the enclosure, you encourage natural behavior. Your dwarf hamster will then have to sniff, search, collect, and discover small food spots on its own.

This mix is very suitable for that, as it consists of fine seeds, grains, herbs, and flowers. For example, scatter a small portion around tunnels, near a multi-chamber house, in a foraging corner, or between safe bedding. This way, daily feeding immediately becomes a quiet moment of enrichment.

Deliberately offer animal proteins separately

Getzoo Dwarf Hamster Food Basic Menu contains no added animal protein. This is intentionally formulated so that you can choose which animal proteins to offer and how often. For dwarf hamsters, for example, you could consider dried mealworms, crickets, shrimp, or other suitable insect snacks.

This way, you keep the basic diet manageable and can better tailor supplements to your animal. This is especially useful when you have a dwarf hamster that selects quickly, is a bit of a picky eater, or when you want to build up the menu gradually and purposefully.

Composition & analysis

Composition: millet mixture, grass seed mixture, buckwheat, linseed, brown perilla, milk thistle, safflower, canary seed, amaranth, dari, milo, sesame, chicory, raspberry seed, nettle seed, rosehip seed, calendula, hibiscus blossoms, blue cornflower, peppermint, lemon balm, chamomile, nettle.

Analysis: crude fiber 8.9%, crude protein 14.9%, crude fat 6.8%, crude ash 4.5%.

Switching to Getzoo Dwarf Hamster Food Basic Menu

Switch gradually if your dwarf hamster is currently on a different food. Over several days, gradually mix more Getzoo Dwarf Hamster Food Basic Menu into the old food. This allows your pet to get used to the smell, taste, and fine texture of the new mix.

A gradual transition also helps to observe how your dwarf hamster eats. With mixed food, it is important not only that the favorite parts are chosen, but that the entire mix is properly consumed. Therefore, it is better to give an appropriate portion than an overflowing food bowl.

Is gewoon top!
