The Forest Wip Wap 22 cm is a surprising oscillating toy for small rodents such as mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, and gerbils. As soon as your animal walks over the seesaw, one part moves down and the other part up. That small moment of movement makes the toy funny, surprising, and enriching all at the same time.
It is precisely that unexpected effect that makes this seesaw fun in a naturally designed enclosure. Your animal walks across it, notices that the plank moves, and then often goes to take another look, sniff, or walk across it again. In this way, a simple little footbridge suddenly becomes a small discovery in the enclosure.
✔ Element of surprise because the seesaw moves while walking
✔ Fun for curious little rodents
✔ Encourages discovery, balancing, and trying again
✔ Compact size for a natural setting or scape
✔ Nice as a playful part of a route through the accommodation
An enclosure becomes more interesting when various types of stimuli are present. Not just little houses and tunnels, but also small elements that react to the animal. The Forest Wip Wap does exactly that: it moves when your animal walks over it. This creates a brief, playful interaction between the animal and the setup.
For many small rodents, that is actually fun. They discover what something does with their noses, paws, and whiskers. A seesaw can therefore spark curiosity: can I walk across it, does it move again, what happens if I walk back? This makes the toy suitable as a small enrichment element in an enclosure where exploration is central.
You can also make the seesaw part of a route. For example, place it between a tunnel and a small house, next to a sand area, or near a foraging spot. This way, your animal doesn't just happen to walk past it, but the seesaw actually gets a function in the layout.
For pygmy rats, rats, guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, degus, and ferrets, this seesaw is less logical due to its size and use. For these animals, you would prefer to choose a larger, sturdier play or foraging element that better suits their body size and way of moving.
Place the Forest Wip Wap on a flat, stable spot in the enclosure. The seesaw works best when your animal can easily walk on and off it. Therefore, do not place it too high and preferably do not use it as the only transition to an important part of the enclosure. It is primarily a fun addition within a route.
For dwarf hamsters and hamsters, you can beautifully incorporate the seesaw into a hamsterscape. Think of a spot next to a cork tunnel, a wooden house, a foraging zone, or a sand bath. For mice, the seesaw can become part of a low route with small hiding places. For gerbils, the seesaw works best on a stable piece of bedding or in a quieter corner where it is not immediately undermined.
Want to make it extra fun? Scatter a few seeds or small snacks around the seesaw, so that your pet naturally comes into contact with the interactive toy while searching.
The power of this toy lies in the small, unexpected moment. The seesaw doesn't have to be big or complicated to add value. The movement, rebounding, and rediscovering make it interesting for small animals. Some animals walk right over it, while others examine it quietly first. Both reactions are consistent with natural exploratory behavior.
You can also offer the seesaw in rotation. For example, temporarily remove it and put it back in a different spot later. This keeps the toy interesting for longer, and allows you to regularly change the layout slightly without having to rebuild the entire enclosure.
Dimensions: approx. 22 × 8.5 × 7 cm.
Use: movement toy, route element, and enrichment for small rodents.
Suitable for: mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, and gerbils.
Due to its compact size, the Forest Wip Wap fits well in small rodent enclosures, scapes, and play corners. The product is intended as a playful element in the decor, not as a necessary basic setup.
Regularly check the seesaw for wear and signs of use, especially for animals that like to gnaw or destroy things. This is part of the normal inspection of cage equipment. Place the seesaw low and stable so that your animal can walk over it calmly and step off easily.
Gerbils may actively work on toys more than mice or hamsters. This is normal behavior for gerbils. As long as the seesaw remains neat, sturdy, and usable, it can be a nice addition to the decor.
When your pet walks across the seesaw, the small plank moves up and down. This creates a surprising playtime that invites exploration and trying again.
