Product description

C&C ® Cage Wire Cube Cage 5x2 - 180 x 75 cm

The ideal large guinea pig cage for multiple guinea pigs: C&C® Cage 5x2

Looking for a large guinea pig cage that offers plenty of room for several guinea pigs right away, without having to expand immediately? Then the C&C® Cage Wire Cube Cage 5x2 is an excellent choice.

This original C&C® guinea pig cage from the UK offers significantly more floor space than the 4x2 version, making it perfect for guinea pig owners who prioritise space, well-being and future-proofing.

Benefits of this C&C® guinea pig cage 5x2

Extra large floor space – ideal for 3 guinea pigs
Original C&C® panels (35 × 35 cm) with safe mesh width (±37 mm)
Coroplast base tray – waterproof, hygienic and easy to clean
Fully modular system – expandable in all directions
Open design for good overview and easy care
Original European C&C® cage – no Chinese imitation
Note: The Coroplast base tray is not gnaw-proof (see tips below) .

Why a 5x2 C&C® guinea pig cage is a smart choice

Guinea pigs are active group animals that require plenty of horizontal space. While many standard guinea pig cages are too small, this 5x2 guinea pig cage immediately provides a comfortable living space without compromise.

This cage is particularly suitable when:

  • you keep 3 guinea pigs
  • you want extra space for enrichment (houses, tunnels, fleece zones)
  • you want a stay that grows with your group

Thanks to the modular design, you can always expand later with additional panels, floors or separate zones.

Dimensions
Total dimensions: approx. 180 × 75 × 75 cm
Floor area: approx. 1.35 m²
Height of Coroplast base tray: approx. 12 cm

LICG advice & space requirements for guinea pigs

Sufficient living space is essential for the well-being of guinea pigs. The LICG (National Information Center for Companion Animals) recommends the following minimum floor area (contiguous space):

  • 2 guinea pigs: minimum 0.9 m²
  • 3 guinea pigs: minimum 1.2 m²
  • 4 guinea pigs: minimum 1.5 m²

This C&C® Cage 5x2 has a floor area of approx. 1.35 m² (180 × 75 cm).

Suitable for 2 to 3 guinea pigs as a main residence
For four guinea pigs , we recommend adding additional C&C® panels to comply with LICG guidelines and ensure your guinea pigs have plenty of room to move around.

Thanks to the modular C&C® system, this cage can easily be expanded into a comfortable, full-fledged and future-proof living space.

Expanding this C&C® cage for (dwarf) rabbits – what is possible and what is not

This C&C® Cage 5x2 (180 × 75 cm) is essentially designed as a full-fledged enclosure for guinea pigs. However, (dwarf) rabbits require more floor space to comfortably move, run, and stretch out. Thanks to the modular C&C® system, this cage can be expanded, provided it is done properly.

When is this cage suitable for rabbits?

  • Without extension: Suitable as a play pen or temporary run, not as a permanent residence.
  • With sufficient extension: Suitable as a spacious rabbit run or living space, possibly in combination with another accommodation.

Expand with additional C&C® panels
The C&C® panels have a fixed size of 35 x 35 cm and are securely connected with connectors at each corner. Adding additional panels lengthwise and/or widthwise increases the cage's floor space.

This can be completely flat, at floor level – exactly what rabbits need.

Important to know about the Coroplast base

The supplied Coroplast base tray has a fixed size that corresponds to the 5x2 basic configuration.

That means:

  • The Coroplast container does not automatically grow when you expand the cage
  • The extra section consists of open wire cube racks
  • You place a suitable surface on the extended part yourself

What is Coroplast and why is it used worldwide?

Coroplast is a corrugated polypropylene plastic that has become especially popular within the C&C® system. It is:

  • Waterproof
  • Lightweight yet sturdy
  • Hygienic and quick to clean
  • Foldable with raised edges

This keeps hay, bedding and droppings neatly in the guinea pig cage.

Note: Coroplast is not gnaw-resistant. It is not poisonous, but gnawing should be discouraged.

Gnawing on the Coroplast base – how to prevent damage

Some guinea pigs chew on the bottom of the litter box out of curiosity. This behavior isn't dangerous, but it can cause damage.

Our practical tips:

  • Always offer plenty of gnawing material (willow branches, wooden toys)
  • Provide distraction with sniffing mats and hay balls
  • Actively distract your guinea pigs from unwanted gnawing behavior
  • If necessary, protect the edges of the base tray

Which animals is this C&C® cage suitable for?

Guinea pigs: Suitable as a full-fledged main residence
Rabbits : Suitable as a run or play area, and with the right extensions also suitable as a main residence.

C&C Cages Manual

View the manual for the C&C Cage cages .

Which animals is this C&C® cage suitable for?

This cage is ideal for guinea pigs. For rabbits, it's suitable as an extra play area or run, not as permanent housing.

How many guinea pigs fit in a 5x2 cage?

The 5x2 cage offers space for 3 to 4 guinea pigs, depending on the layout. A larger surface area means more room to move around and rest.

What makes Coroplast so convenient?

Coroplast is waterproof, hygienic, and easy to clean. It keeps hay, feces, and urine neatly contained within the litter box. Note: the litter box is not chew-proof , so offer your pets plenty of chew toys.

Can I expand or adjust the cage?

Yes! C&C® cages are modular – you can expand them endlessly with additional panels, levels, or accessories.

Is this an original C&C® cage?

Yes, this is a genuine European C&C® Cage from the UK – guaranteed quality and not a Chinese knock-off.

Do guinea pigs gnaw on the Coroplast base tray, is that a problem?

Guinea pigs naturally like to chew, and sometimes they'll even try it on the Coroplast litter tray. Fortunately, this isn't dangerous or poisonous, but it is a waste of litter. When the chewing is out of curiosity, it often stops on its own. However, if the behavior persists, it can lead to damage to the litter tray. In that case, it's considered problem behavior, and it's important to prevent and break it.

What can you do?

  • Provide plenty of gnawing material , such as willow branches, hay rolls or wooden toys.
  • Provide distraction with snuffle mats , hay balls or food balls.
  • Distract your guinea pigs if you see them chewing on the bottom tray. A short command like "no" or "shame" can help, followed by a safe alternative.
  • If necessary, protect the edges of the Coroplast with a strip or temporarily place something in front of them.

In short: gnawing on the Coroplast should be discouraged to prevent damage.
