The Specialists Natuur Stick is a natural snack stick for rodents and rabbits. The stick is made from recognizable ingredients such as herbs, flowers, vegetables, fruit, seeds, or animal proteins, depending on the chosen variant. Your animal can nibble on it, pull on it, destroy it, and gently break off pieces.
At DRD, when it comes to snack sticks, we focus primarily on what your animal can do with them. These sticks are not only intended as a tasty and responsible supplement, but also as an activity: your animal has to nibble, pick, and forage to get to the various ingredients. This makes feeding immediately more interesting than a single snack held by hand.

A stick gives your animal something to keep them occupied for longer. Instead of eating a single loose snack immediately, your animal has to nibble, pull, and search. This suits animals well who enjoy being busy with their food and like to break pieces off themselves.
For small rodents, the stick can be a fun foraging stimulus. For guinea pigs and rabbits, the herb and flower variant can be particularly interesting as a supplement to hay and the daily basic diet. For hamsters, mice, gerbils, and rats, the protein-rich variant with mealworms can also be interesting, as it is better suited for omnivorous rodents.
For pet owners, a nature stick is convenient because you offer something tasty and active at the same time with a single snack. Your pet gets not only flavor but also something to do. This makes these sticks fun for an enrichment moment, as a change of pace in the enclosure, or as a treat where your pet has to do something on their own.
The different variants make it easier to choose what suits your animal. Not every animal has the same nutritional needs, so choosing the right variant is more important than simply giving any stick to any animal.
The Specialists Natuur Stick is available in three variants. Each variant has a different composition and is therefore suitable for a different occasion.
| Variant | Fits especially well with | Why choose? |
| Marigold, Mallow and Moorflower | Guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, degus and herb lovers | Herb- and flower-rich variety with a calm, natural composition. |
| Tomato, Banana and Apple | Mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, gerbils, dwarf rats, and rats as a small treat | Fruity, vegetable-rich variant with banana, apple, and tomato. |
| Mealworms, Peanuts and Coconut | For omnivorous rodents such as mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, gerbils, pygmy rats, and rats | Protein-rich and nutritious variant with mealworms, peanuts, and coconut. |
For guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, and degus, the variant with marigold, mallow, and everlasting is the most obvious choice. This variant complements herbs, flowers, and fiber-rich variety nicely, alongside hay and the daily basic diet.
You should primarily use the variants with fruit or animal proteins for animals for whom that is a better fit. This keeps the choice clear and ensures that every animal receives a stick that logically aligns with its diet.
For mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, gerbils, pygmy rats, and rats, the sticks are fun as an active snack. You can temporarily place a stick in the enclosure or offer it in a foraging corner. Your animal can nibble on it and break off pieces.
For omnivorous rodents, the variant with mealworms, peanuts, and coconut can be particularly interesting. For animals that primarily enjoy plant-based snacks, the floral/herb variant or the tomato-banana-apple variant are good choices.
Give the stick as an additional snack and enrichment. You can temporarily place the stick in the enclosure, offer it in a foraging corner, or give it during outdoor run time. Let your animal nibble and break off pieces on its own.
| Usage | Practical application |
| Offer separately | Temporarily place the stick in the enclosure so your animal can nibble on it. |
