Oval ceramic bowl – room to eat together
This black ceramic food and water bowl has an elongated shape, allowing animals to eat at different points along the rim. That is useful for social rodents and rabbits that like to approach the food bowl at the same time. Its sturdy ceramic construction and elegant black colour also make it an attractive addition to the enclosure.
You can use the bowl for food or water. For small rodents such as dwarf hamsters, it can also serve as a sand bath. Choose the purpose that best suits your setup. The bowl measures approximately 16.5 × 8.5 × 5.5 cm.

Why choose an elongated food bowl?
At a shared feeding spot, access matters as well as the amount of food. By spreading food along the length of this bowl, you allow animals to approach at different points around the rim. They do not have to crowd so closely together to reach the same spot.
This makes the bowl a practical choice when you want to create one shared feeding area. In a group that eats comfortably together, the elongated bowl can replace several small bowls placed next to each other. How many animals can use it at once depends on their size and the space around the bowl.
Position the bowl so that its long sides remain accessible. If it is squeezed between other furnishings, some of that benefit is lost. If one animal keeps the feeding spot to itself, provide an additional feeding area elsewhere.
Which animals and uses is it suitable for?
For small rodents such as dwarf hamsters, this ceramic bowl can also be used as a sand bath. The open design makes it easy to check the sand and clean soiled patches. Fill it with suitable bathing sand for this purpose.
For rats, guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas and degus, use it as a food or water bowl. The elongated shape is particularly useful when several animals want to eat at the same time. You can offer their measured daily food portion or a suitable addition for the species.
The sand bath use is therefore intended for small rodents. For the larger animals, its purpose is to hold food or drinking water.
How to use the bowl
As a food bowl
Spread food along the length of the bowl rather than placing it all in one pile. This makes use of the elongated shape. Follow the feeding instructions for the food you are offering. A larger bowl does not need to be filled to the rim.
Remove leftover fresh food and clean the bowl before offering a new portion. If you want to use it for drinking water afterwards, clean it thoroughly first.
As a water bowl
Place the bowl on a level surface and fill it with fresh drinking water. Choose an accessible spot where as little bedding as possible will fall into the water. Check the water daily and replace it between routine changes if food or bedding gets into it.
As a sand bath for small rodents
Add suitable bathing sand to the clean, dry bowl, leaving some space below the rim. This leaves room to move around in the sand. Remove soiled patches and replace the sand when needed. Use a bowl containing sand as a separate sand bathing spot alongside the food and water facilities.
Sturdy ceramic in elegant black
The bowl is made from ceramic with a simple black finish. It looks lovely alongside wooden houses, cork, natural bedding and green accents. The clean oval shape also works well in a modern enclosure setup.

Positioning and cleaning
Place the ceramic bowl on a flat, firm surface. In an enclosure with deep bedding, a stable platform with supports reaching the enclosure floor is a practical option. This keeps the bowl supported when your animals dig around the feeding area.
Clean the bowl with warm water and rinse it thoroughly. Allow it to dry completely before adding dry food or bathing sand. Check the rim and base for damage during cleaning. Replace the bowl if sharp chips or cracks develop.
