Why choose the Trio Snack Log?
With this snack, the tasty ingredients are not simply placed loose in a food bowl. Your pet has to work to remove the seeds, vegetables and herbs from the openings in the wood. This makes snack time more active and gives your pet something interesting to investigate.
For birds, the integrated perch provides a practical place to land and peck at the filling. Small rodents can hold the snack log with their front paws, gnaw the wood and remove the different ingredients from the openings. The variety of aromas, flavours and textures makes it an enjoyable treat and foraging activity.
The sturdy natural wood also gives your pet something suitable to nibble. At DRD, we like snacks that add more than flavour alone. This snack log combines a treat with activity, exploration and natural gnawing behaviour. It is a lovely choice for pet owners who want to offer thoughtful extra variety.
Which animals is this snack suitable for?
- Ornamental birds: suitable as a complementary snack for birds that enjoy pecking, nibbling and actively working with their food. Hang the snack securely and within easy reach.
- Mouse: an enjoyable natural gnawing and foraging snack. Place the log flat or on a low, stable platform.
- Dwarf hamster: suitable as an occasional varied snack. Place the log on the bedding or on a very low platform so your dwarf hamster can reach it easily.
- Hamster: can nibble the seeds and herbs from the openings. Offer the snack lying flat or attach it very low in the enclosure.
- Gerbil: enjoyable to gnaw and investigate. Position the product securely so it cannot roll or fall unexpectedly.
- Dwarf rat: suitable as an active gnawing and foraging snack. Hang it low or place it flat on an easy-to-reach platform.
- Rat: an enjoyable varied snack that allows the rat to remove the filling from the wood. Position it low and securely or place it flat.
The snack log must always be easy to reach. Do not hang it high in a rodent enclosure. Preferably place it flat on the bedding or on a low, stable platform so your pet can safely reach the seeds and herbs without having to jump or climb dangerously.
How do you use the Trio Snack Log?
For birds
- Choose an easy-to-reach location in the cage or aviary.
- Secure the hanger firmly and check that the wooden disc hangs steadily.
- Make sure your bird can land safely on the integrated perch.
- Allow your bird to discover how to reach the different fillings.
- Check the product regularly and keep the area around the snack clean.
For small rodents
- Place the snack log flat on the bedding or on a low, stable platform.
- Would you prefer to hang it? Attach it low enough for your pet to keep all four paws safely supported.
- Check that the log cannot fall, swing strongly or roll from a high platform.
- Allow your pet to nibble the seeds, vegetables and herbs from the openings.
- Offer the log as an occasional snack alongside its normal daily food.
How quickly the filling is eaten varies between animals. Some pets begin nibbling immediately, while others first smell the wood and calmly investigate how to reach the ingredients.
