Are herbs healthy for hamsters and dwarf hamsters?

Absolutely! Herbs are packed with fiber, vitamins and minerals . They support digestion , strengthen the immune system and boost your hamster's vitality . In addition, hamsters instinctively choose which herbs they need at that moment.

Are Seeds Healthy for Hamsters & Dwarf Hamsters?

hamster herb harvest and seed cobs Hamsters are real seed eaters! In the wild, a hamster's diet consists of more than 90% seeds. The animals collect the seeds and take them to their burrow where they store the seeds for the winter. Hamsters and Dwarf hamsters have a high metabolism, which means they need energy-rich food. You will therefore find a large variety of seeds with us, with our preference for seeds that have not yet been harvested. The unharvested seeds are still hidden in the plant, so the animals have to harvest these seeds themselves. The latter ensures that the hamsters can REALLY show their natural behavior. With their small hands they grab the plants and expertly remove the seeds from the shell to then quickly eat them or hoard them.

It is not only fun for the animals to harvest their own food, but also for us owners it is enjoyable to see the animals busy like this. This is pure natural behavior and it gives the animals a lot of joy.

How do I offer herbs in a natural way?

hamster eats seeds Let your hamster choose by offering herbs loose or by processing them in a foraging corner . Change regularly for extra scent and taste experience. Think of herbs such as plantain, camomile or dandelion.

Are seeds important in a hamster's diet?

Yes! Hamsters are natural seed eaters . Their wild diet consists of over 90% seeds. Their fast metabolism requires energy-rich food. Seeds provide healthy fats, proteins and carbohydrates.

What are 'unharvested seeds' and why are they so good?

Unharvested seeds are still in the plant, such as sunflower heads or grass plumes . Hamsters have to harvest these themselves, which is perfectly in line with their natural behavior. This stimulates their brains and keeps them active and happy.

What types of herbs and seeds are available?

With us you will find, among other things:

  • Herb and harvest packages
  • Sunflower heads
  • Grains, flakes and loose seeds
  • Seed mixtures tailored to the nutritional needs of hamsters
This way you can make every day a party in the feeding bowl!

How often can I give herbs and seeds?

Herbs can be offered daily , in small quantities as a supplement to the basic food. Seeds form the main part of the diet for dwarf hamsters, for Syrian hamsters you give slightly less seeds, depending on the composition of the main food.

What is the difference between loose seeds and seed mixes?

Loose seeds are ideal as a snack or enrichment, while seed mixes are completely tailored to your hamster's nutritional needs. Tip: combine them with a foraging activity!
