Good dwarf hamster food must suit both the size and the behavior of dwarf hamsters. Dwarf hamsters enjoy eating small seeds and fine food particles. They peel, sort, collect, and like to hoard. A mixed diet with many small textures therefore makes feeding more interesting than just eating from a bowl.
JR Farm Food Dwarf Hamster contains several types of millet, including silver millet, La Plata millet, Managa millet, red mohair millet, and Senegalese millet. Additionally, the mix contains, among others, oats, corn, wheat, wheat flakes, rice, canary grass seed, puffed wheat, buckwheat, grass seeds, wild seeds, flaxseed, spelt, sorghum, milo, hemp seed, pumpkin seeds, sesame seed, amaranth, and blue poppy seed.
Animal protein sources are also present in this food. The composition includes Hermetia larvae, silkworm pupae, mealworms, and small shrimp, among others. This suits dwarf hamsters well, as they are not strictly herbivores. They naturally have a wider diet than, for example, guinea pigs and rabbits.
The vegetable and herb ingredients, such as parsnip, beetroot, carrot, tomato, bell pepper, courgette, cucumber, parsley, marigold, fennel seed, black cumin, and dill seed, provide extra aroma, colour, and flavour. As a result, the mix remains attractive to dwarf hamsters who enjoy being active with their food.
JR Farm Food Dwarf Hamster is suitable for dwarf hamsters. This includes Russian dwarf hamsters, Campbell's dwarf hamsters, Roborovski dwarf hamsters, and Chinese dwarf hamsters. The food is intended as a complete daily staple and can be given in a food bowl or partially scattered in the enclosure.
This food is not intended for guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, or degus. These are herbivores with a different feeding pattern. For mice, gerbils, rats, and Syrian hamsters, we recommend a food specifically formulated for those species.
Give JR Farm Food Dwarf Hamster as the daily main food. As a practical guideline, you can assume approximately 6 to 8 grams of food per dwarf hamster per day. The correct amount also depends on the species, age, activity, condition, and hoarding behavior of your dwarf hamster.
Dwarf hamsters often enjoy searching for their food. Therefore, you can place part of the portion in a food bowl and spread another part throughout the bedding, in a digging area, among safe furnishings, or on a foraging spot. This immediately turns feeding into a natural activity.
Regularly check the house and storage spots. Dwarf hamsters like to hoard, so there is sometimes more food in the enclosure than you see from the outside. This way, you keep a good overview of what your animal actually eats and stores.
Are you switching from a different food? Then gradually mix the new food with the old food. A gentle transition of about 7 to 10 days helps your dwarf hamster get used to the new smell, taste, and composition.

The composition is tailored to dwarf hamsters as small omnivores. The mix contains many fine seeds, millet varieties, grains, vegetables, herbs, and animal protein sources. This provides not only dietary variety but also variation in texture. As a result, dwarf hamsters can really do something with their food: search, hull, collect, and hoard.
