Product description

Trixie Tree Trunk Tunnel Snack Foraging & Gnawing

The Trixie Tree Trunk Tunnel Snack combines snacking, gnawing, and foraging in one natural product. The wooden tree trunk is filled with mountain meadow hay and hibiscus flowers, while the outside is finished at both ends with dried peas and carrots. This makes it not just a snack, but also a fun activity that your pet really has to work for.

Because the treats are located in and around the log, your rodent or rabbit has to search, pull, nibble, and pry to get to them. This makes mealtime slower and more interesting. Depending on how your animal uses it, the log can then also serve as gnawing material or as a small play element in the enclosure.

In short

  • Natural wooden snack tunnel
  • Filled with mountain meadow hay and hibiscus flowers
  • Ends finished with dried pea and carrot
  • Combines snacking, gnawing, and foraging
  • Available in small and large
  • Dimensions: approximately 20 cm or 30 cm

Pros of the Log Tunnel Snack

Foraging fun: your animal has to search, pull, and nibble to get to the hay and snack parts.
With hay and hibiscus: the filling makes the log tunnel interesting for animals that like to peck at fibrous materials.
With pea and carrot: the ends provide extra aroma, flavor, and motivation to explore.
Also for gnawing: the wooden tree trunk encourages natural nibbling behavior.
For multiple animal species: suitable as a snack and foraging item for various rodents and rabbits.

Why choose a log tunnel snack?

A good snack is not only tasty but also gives your animal something to do. The Log Tunnel Snack is a great example of this. The hay is not loose in a container, but hidden inside a wooden tunnel. As a result, your animal has to be actively engaged to get it out. This aligns well with natural behavior such as searching, nibbling, pulling, and exploring.

For many rodents and rabbits, foraging is an important part of the day. In nature, food is usually not neatly laid out in a food bowl. Animals have to search, smell, choose, and sometimes make an effort to get to their food. With a foraging snack like this log tunnel, you therefore make snack time more interesting and longer.

The wooden base also provides extra gnawing fun. Animals that enjoy exploring materials, such as hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, and degus, can particularly enjoy playing with this. However, always check how your animal is using the product and remove it if it becomes severely damaged, dirty, or unstable.

For which animals is the Log Tunnel Snack suitable?

  • Mouse: suitable as a foraging and gnawing item. The small variant is usually the most practical.
  • Dwarf hamster: suitable as a snack tunnel and foraging challenge. Offer small amounts of extra snack material intentionally.
  • Hamster: suitable as a foraging snack and gnawing item. For larger hamsters, the tunnel is primarily a snack and gnawing product, not always a true passage tunnel.
  • Gerbil: suitable as a gnawing and foraging item. Gerbils may actively modify the wooden tunnel, so check regularly.
  • Guinea pig: suitable as a snack and foraging item. For guinea pigs, it is primarily something to nibble on and pull out, not as a tunnel.
  • Rabbit: suitable as a snack and gnawing product. For rabbits, it is not a tunnel to walk through, but it is fun to play with.
  • Chinchilla: suitable as a gnawing and foraging item, but give snack parts consciously and monitor usage carefully.
  • Degu: suitable as a gnawing and foraging item. Because it has a pea and carrot on it, offering it in a limited and deliberate manner is advisable.

How do you use the Log Tunnel Snack?

Place the log tunnel in a stable spot in the enclosure. Your animal can sniff and gnaw on it and pull the hay out on its own. For small rodents, you can also partially embed the tunnel in the bedding to make searching extra interesting. For larger animals such as guinea pigs and rabbits, you can simply place it on the floor or in a foraging corner.

You can optionally put some extra treats in the hay, such as a small amount of herbs , dried vegetables, or suitable snacks. Do this in moderation, however, so that the product remains a nice enrichment and does not become a large snack portion all at once.

For example, combine the log tunnel withplay & foraging , gnawing material , hay , or natural decor. For hamsters and gerbils, it also fits nicely into hamsterscaping and gerbilscaping .

Why is foraging important?

Foraging means that your animal actively searches for food. This can be done by sniffing, digging, pulling, nibbling, or opening something up. For many rodents and rabbits, this is a pleasant way to keep themselves occupied. It extends snack time and provides more variety than a snack lying loose in the enclosure.

Foraging products can help reduce boredom, because your animal is not only eating but is also occupied with the journey to get there. This is especially valuable in an enclosure where you would like to add more challenge and natural activity.

Dimensions and variants

  • Small: approximately 20 cm
  • Large: approximately 30 cm
  • Diameter: center approx. Ø 3 cm, outer approx. Ø 6 cm

The log tunnel is sometimes also interesting for small animals as a tunnel-like play element. For larger animals such as guinea pigs and rabbits, it is primarily intended as a snack, gnawing, and foraging item.

Compound

Composition: wood, mountain meadow hay, hibiscus flowers, dried pea and carrot.

The exact ratio may vary per product. Because this is a natural product, shape, color, texture, and filling may vary slightly.

Good to know

The Log Tunnel Snack is intended as a supplementary snack and enrichment, not as a main food. Offer the product under supervision and check regularly for wear, loose parts, or soiling. If the tunnel becomes wet, sharp, unstable, or heavily gnawed to pieces, remove it from the enclosure. Always provide additional snacks appropriate for the animal species and in small quantities.
