Which animals is this C&C® cage suitable for?

This C&C® cage is perfect for guinea pigs. For rabbits, the cage is only suitable as a safe indoor play area or additional run, not as permanent housing.

How many guinea pigs fit in a 4x2 cage with loft?

A 4x2 C&C® cage is suitable for 2 to 3 guinea pigs, with plenty of room to run, play, and rest. The loft provides additional floor space, but does not count towards the full floor area.

Is the staircase to the loft safe for guinea pigs?

Do guinea pigs gnaw on the Coroplast base tray, is that a problem?

Guinea pigs naturally like to chew, and sometimes they'll even try it on the Coroplast litter tray. Fortunately, this isn't dangerous or poisonous, but it is a waste of litter. When the chewing is out of curiosity, it often stops on its own. However, if the behavior persists, it can lead to damage to the litter tray. In that case, it's considered problem behavior, and it's important to prevent and break it.

What can you do?

• Provide plenty of gnawing material , such as willow branches, hay rolls or wooden toys.
• Provide distraction with sniff mats , hay balls or food balls.
• Distract your guinea pigs if you see them chewing on the bottom tray. A short command like "no" or "shame" can help, followed by a safe alternative.
• If necessary, protect the edges of the Coroplast with a strip or temporarily place something in front of them.

In short: gnawing on the Coroplast should be discouraged to prevent damage.
