Product description

C&C® Cages Wire Cube Cage 4x2 - 145 × 75 cm + Loft 2x2

The C&C® Cages Wire Cube Cage 4x2 + Loft 2x2 is a spacious, modular guinea pig cage for owners who consciously choose clarity, flexibility, and a neat setup. The 4x2 base provides a usable floor layout of approximately 145 × 75 cm, while the extra-large 2x2 loft offers more possibilities to create separate zones for hay, rest, hiding, or enrichment.

A C&C enclosure is not a standard cage, but a modular system. You assemble the enclosure using sturdy wire panels, connectors, and a Coroplast base tray. This allows you to later adjust, expand, or supplement the layout with parts that fit this cage directly, such as the correct 4x2 floor mat, extra shelves, connectors, and a practical drinking solution.

At DRD, when it comes to C&C guinea pig cages, we look not only at the size of the cage, but especially at the complete setup: is there enough open running space left, can the guinea pigs easily pass each other, is the hay corner logically placed, and does the bedding fit your cleaning routine? This ensures that the cage is not only spacious, but also truly pleasant for daily use.

Why choose a C&C cage with a loft?

The strength of this C&C cage lies in the combination of a spacious base and an extra-large loft. The base at floor level remains the primary living space. This is where guinea pigs walk around, eat hay, rest, seek shelter, and move past each other. You use the loft as an additional zone, for example, as a hay corner, resting area, extra hiding spot, or compact enrichment area.

For guinea pigs, usable floor space is particularly important. A loft makes the enclosure more interesting and practical to organize, but it does not replace a spacious basic floor. Therefore, view the loft as a luxurious addition: handy, organized, and beautiful for bringing extra structure to the enclosure.

This layout is well-suited for owners who want a more complete C&C setup right away than just a straight base. You have more options for separating food, hay, hiding places, rest zones, and potty areas. This creates a sense of calm in the setup and makes daily care more organized.

Dimensions and space

The base dimensions of this C&C cage are approximately 145 × 75 cm. This amounts to about 1.09 m² of floor space on the base floor. The extra loft consists of 2x2 C&C modules and provides additional space for layout and enrichment.

  • Base size: approximately 145 × 75 cm
  • Base floor: approximately 1.09 m²
  • Loft: 2x2 modules
  • Total height: approximately 75 cm
  • Bottom tray: Coroplast with a raised edge of approximately 12 cm
  • Included: panels, connectors, Coroplast base, loft and slope

If your primary goal is maximum floor space, a larger base layout or extension is often preferable. However, if you desire additional layout, a separate hay nook, or a more playful structure, this 4x2 with loft is a great choice within the C&C system.

For which animals is this C&C cage suitable?

This C&C setup is primarily intended for guinea pigs. Guinea pigs are ground-dwelling animals and benefit most from open roaming space, multiple hiding places, easily accessible hay, and a floor that is easy to keep clean.

  • Guinea pig: suitable as a modular main setup for 2 guinea pigs, especially when you consciously work with open run space, multiple hiding places, and a logical hay corner.
  • Rabbit: only suitable as an extra indoor run, temporary enclosure, or part of a much larger setup. Rabbits require much more continuous space to move around than this cage offers as a standalone base.

For guinea pigs, always consider the number of animals, temperament, sex, age, and the final setup. Houses, tunnels, hay racks, food bowls, and litter boxes take up space. Therefore, always keep sufficient open runways clear.

The 2x2 loft: extra zone for hay, rest, or enrichment

The 2x2 loft adds extra layout to the enclosure. For example, you can use the loft as a quiet hay corner, an extra resting place, or a well-organized enrichment zone. This can be useful when you want to keep the base floor downstairs calmer and more open.

The accompanying ramp is included so that your guinea pigs can reach the loft. The loft is an addition to the enclosure and not a substitute for good basic floor space. Guinea pigs remain ground animals. The main space downstairs must therefore remain spacious, safe, and easily accessible.

Use the loft as an extra zone for hay, rest, or enrichment
The accompanying ramp is included so your guinea pigs can reach the loft.
Keep the base floor downstairs spacious and uncluttered as the main living space
If necessary, place a pee pad on favorite resting or peeing spots.
Furnish the loft calmly with, for example, hay, a soft surface, or a compact enrichment area.

Complete your C&C enclosure with parts that really fit.

This C&C 4x2 + Loft 2x2 primarily comes with parts that connect directly to this system. This way, you don't have to search through general categories yourself, but can immediately practically complete the cage with the right size bottom mat, extra panels, connectors, and a suitable drinking solution.

Tip: If you want to continue building later, loose racks and connectors are especially handy to have in stock. With these, you can expand, repair, or adjust the layout without immediately choosing a completely new cage.

DRD tip: furnish the cage with open runways

A C&C enclosure works best when you don't fill it completely. Guinea pigs need to be able to walk, turn, pass, eat, and rest without constantly getting stuck between houses, hay, and water points. Therefore, think in terms of zones: a hay corner, a dry resting place, an open central route, multiple hiding places, and possibly a toilet area.

This is especially important when you have two or more guinea pigs. Provide multiple sheltered spots and wide passageways so that the animals can move past each other in a relaxed manner. This way, the cage becomes not only more spacious but also more pleasant for daily use.

Coroplast tray: practical and well-organized

The Coroplast bottom tray has raised edges and forms the practical base of the cage. The rim helps to keep bedding, hay, and loose materials better contained within the cage. Furthermore, the bottom combines well with washable mats, pee pads, or absorbent zones.

Many owners choose a combination for a C&C enclosure: a soft floor mat as a base, loose pee pads in wet spots, and litter bedding in the hay corner or litter box. This allows for targeted cleaning without having to constantly change the entire floor.

Coroplast is practical, lightweight, and waterproof, but it is not intended as gnawing material. If you notice your guinea pigs nibbling curiously at the edges, it often helps to enrich the setup with hay, gnawing material, hiding places, and variety. This keeps the bedding looking better and gives the animals more to do.

Modular and expandable

A major advantage of C&C is that you are not tied to one fixed shape. With separate racks, connectors, lofts, and matching floor solutions, you can modify or expand the enclosure later. This is useful when you want to create more space, try a different layout, or add an extra zone.

When expanding, don't just think about the panels. The base must also logically grow with it. Often, an expansion also requires an extra base mat, plasma mat, Coroplast section, or absorbent zone.

Separate racks are handy for expansion or repair
Connectors help to securely connect the system
A loft offers extra layout
Bottom mats and pee pads make the cleaning routine easier
With C&C, you can more easily grow with your space and wishes later on.

Manual and structure

Would you like to take a look at the assembly process at your leisure first? Then check out the C&C Cage cage manual . In it, you can see how the panels, connectors, base, and loft are assembled.

The ramp is used with the loft and can be secured with the included mounting hardware. Press the panels firmly into the connectors so that the setup is taut and sturdy. This provides the best result and makes the cage more pleasant for daily use.

Cleaning the C&C cage

A C&C guinea pig cage is easy to keep clean when you work with zones. Remove wet hay, wet pee pads, and soiled litter in time. The main base then does not always need to be completely replaced.

A practical routine is:

  • Remove wet hay and visible puddles daily
  • Regularly change pee pads in fixed wet spots
  • keep toilet bedding in the hayloft
  • keep feeding and watering areas clean
  • Check the Coroplast bottom for dirt along edges and corners.

Good to know

A C&C guinea pig cage is flexible, but works best when the assembly remains calm and logical. Check that the panels are standing firmly, that connectors are securely fastened, and that the bottom fits together neatly. This ensures the enclosure remains pleasant to use and easy to maintain.

Preferably use multiple open hiding places, keep runways clear, and check designated potty spots daily. This way, the enclosure remains comfortable for your guinea pigs and practical for you.

Frequently asked questions about the C&C 4x2 + Loft 2x2

What is a C&C guinea pig cage?

A C&C guinea pig cage is a modular wire cube enclosure that you assemble using panels and connectors. The system is popular for guinea pigs because it offers a lot of freedom regarding shape, layout, and expansion.

How many guinea pigs is this 4x2 cage suitable for?

This cage is a nice main setup for 2 guinea pigs. For 3 or more guinea pigs, expanding with extra panels is advisable to create more continuous floor space.

Does the loft count as floor area?

The loft is a nice extra zone, but it does not replace a good basic space at floor level. Guinea pigs are ground animals. The base floor downstairs therefore remains the most important living space.

Is the ramp to the loft included?

Yes, the ramp to the loft is included. This allows guinea pigs to reach the loft, and you can use the upper floor as an extra zone for things like hay, rest, or enrichment.

Which parts fit directly with this C&C cage?

For this 4x2 setup, the base mat for C&C Cage 4x2, separate C&C racks, separate C&C connectors, and a practical drinking solution such as the COSY Water Dispenser are particularly suitable. With these, you can make the cage more comfortable, expand it, or replace parts.

What do you use the loft for?

You can use the loft as a hay corner, resting place, extra hiding area, or enrichment spot. Many owners place a pee mat or soft surface on top so that the loft is easy to keep clean.

Which bedding do you use in a C&C cage?

Many owners combine a floor mat or liner with separate pee pads and litter bedding in the hay corner. This way, you can easily change wet spots without having to replace the entire floor every time.

Can you expand this C&C cage?

Yes, that is precisely one of the advantages of C&C. With separate racks, connectors, lofts, and matching floor solutions, you can modify or enlarge the enclosure later.

Is Coroplast chew-proof?

Coroplast is practical, lightweight, and waterproof, but not chew-proof. In practice, it helps to provide sufficient hay, chewing material, hiding places, and enrichment so that guinea pigs have enough to do and the edges stay looking nicer.

Is this cage suitable for rabbits?

This setup is not intended as an independent primary enclosure for rabbits. However, you can use C&C panels as part of a larger indoor run, temporary enclosure, or extension, provided there is significantly more continuous movement space available.

What do you need for this C&C cage?

Consider a suitable bottom mat, extra pee pads, hay, a hay rack or hay bag, multiple houses, tunnels, a water station, food bowls, litter bedding, and a cleaning routine.

Ik ben teleurgesteld over de prijs kwaliteit verhouding.

  • + Groot
  • - Geen dak
  • - Trap moeilijk te plaatsen
  • - Slappe bak waar vocht in trekt
  • - Relatief duur

  • + Uitstraling
  • + Open en ruim
  • + Kan uit elkaar/ flatpack
  • - Gebruiksaanwijzing niet helder
