Product description

Linseed Flax Harvest for rodents and seed-eating birds

With Linseed Flax Harvest, you give your small rodent or bird a natural, seed-rich harvest to engage with independently. The linseeds are still attached to the flax stalks, allowing your animal to sniff, search, pluck, and explore. This makes this harvest much more interesting than loose seeds in a bowl.

For small rodents such as mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, gerbils, and rats, Linseed Flax Harvest is particularly fun as foraging enrichment. Many animals use their paws to hold the stalks and extract the seeds. Seed-eating birds can also be actively engaged with this by pecking, poking, and harvesting themselves.

Why choose Linseed Flax Harvest?

Linseed Flax Harvest is a great choice when you want to give your animal not only a tasty treat but also offer a natural activity. The seeds are still attached to the plant, requiring your animal to search and pick them itself. This makes feeding less predictable and stimulates natural foraging behavior.

For hamsterscaping and gerbilscaping , you can use Flaxseed Harvest as a natural harvest field, foraging area, or playful accent among wood, cork, moss, and bedding. The stems provide structure and height, while the seeds invite your animal to be actively engaged.

Flaxseed falls under the category of seed-based harvest . This makes it particularly interesting for seed-eating small rodents and birds. For animals that primarily eat fiber-rich foods, such as guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, and degus, it is preferable to use seed-based harvests sparingly as variety.

For which animals is Linseed Flax Harvest suitable?

Linseed Flax Harvest is especially suitable for small rodents and birds that enjoy playing with seed-rich harvest materials.

  • Mice
  • Dwarf hamsters
  • Hamsters
  • Gerbils
  • Dwarf rats
  • Rats as natural enrichment and foraging material
  • Seed-eating birds such as parakeets, canaries, finches, and aviary birds

For guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, and degus, Flaxseed Harvest is not a staple food. For these animals, the emphasis lies primarily on hay, fiber-rich food, and species-appropriate herbs. Therefore, it is preferable to use seed-rich harvested materials as limited variety when this fits within the total ration.

How to use Flax Harvest in the enclosure

You can offer Linseed Flax Harvest in various ways. Choose the method that suits your animal, the enclosure, and the setup.

  • Place a suitable loose piece in the enclosure as simple foraging enrichment.
  • Carefully push the stems into a firm layer of ground cover.
  • With a layer of ground cover starting from about 20 cm, stems often remain standing more firmly.
  • Use the harvest at the back or in the middle of the enclosure for extra depth.
  • Form small groups for a natural field or harvest corner.
  • Combine with cork, wood, moss, sand, and other natural harvested materials.
  • If necessary, use a snack clip with wire cages.
  • For glass, if necessary, use a suction cup with a clamp .
  • Remove parts that become wet, dirty, or less fresh.

Use per animal species

Mouse

Mice love searching, gathering, and small foraging spots. Offer Flaxseed Harvest in small pieces or place a few stalks along a route so they can pick and investigate themselves.

Dwarf hamster

Dwarf hamsters often find seed-rich harvesting materials very interesting. For example, place the linseed and flax harvest near a sand bath area, at the back of the enclosure, or along a natural runway. This way, your dwarf hamster can search for and harvest it themselves.

Hamster

Golden hamsters can actively investigate, push over, or take Flax Harvest to a stash spot. Use the stalks as natural border planting or a foraging area in a spacious scape.

Gerbil

Gerbils enjoy digging and renovating. Therefore, place the Linseed Flax Harvest a little deeper in the bedding or use it as temporary enrichment. If the harvest is dug up or gnawed to pieces, this is part of their natural behavior.

Dwarf rat and rat

Dwarf rats and rats use their paws skillfully and can hold, pick, and move the harvest. It is better to give a suitable piece than too much at once, so that it remains an active enrichment moment.

Seed-eating birds

For seed-eating birds, you can hang Linseed Flax Harvest with a clip, offer it loose on a tray, or incorporate it into a natural feeding setup. Birds can examine the stalks, peck, and loosen the seeds themselves.

Guinea pig, rabbit, chinchilla and degu

For guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, and degus, it is preferable to use Flaxseed Harvest in limited quantities as a small variation. The basis always remains hay, fiber-rich food, and suitable herbs.

How do rodents eat flaxseed and flax harvest?

Every animal uses this harvest in its own way. Some rodents hold the stem with their paws, while others pick the seeds directly off. Many small rodents collect the seeds and take them to a stash spot. It is precisely this natural gathering that makes this harvest such a fun enrichment activity.

Compound

Composition: linseed flax harvest.

Analysis: not specified.

Linseed Flax Harvest is not a complete food, but a natural supplement for animals that enjoy foraging, plucking, and engaging with their food. Precisely because the seeds are still attached to the stalk, feeding becomes less predictable and more interesting.

Good to know: we fill based on appearance, not exact weight.

With our floral and harvest products, we deliberately do not look solely at weight. These products consist of natural parts such as flowers, leaves, stems, seeds, and harvest material. As a result, the weight per bunch or box may vary slightly, while the contents are appropriately filled in terms of size and appearance.

A bunch with more stems, slightly more leaves, or natural residual moisture may be heavier, but that does not automatically mean it looks more beautiful or fuller. Conversely, a lighter bunch may contain more airy stems or delicate seed pods. Therefore, we look primarily at quality, variety, and a beautiful natural presentation.

This way, you receive a natural harvest that looks good, is pleasant to use in the enclosure, and matches the character of the product. Because these are natural products, color, structure, length, and seed density may vary slightly from harvest to harvest.

How is the linseed flax harvest stored at our facility?

In our warehouse, we store the harvest in a cool, dry, and UV-free environment. This ensures that color, aroma, and natural quality are preserved as well as possible. We recommend storing the Linseed Flax Harvest at home in a dark, cool, and dry place as well.

Close the packaging tightly after use and avoid damp areas or direct sunlight. Moisture can damage natural harvested materials and make them less fresh.

Important to know

  • This is a natural product: color, shape, length, and quantity of seeds may vary per bunch.
  • Use Linseed Flax. Preferably harvest from dry places in the enclosure.
  • Remove parts that become wet, dirty, or less fresh.
  • Offer seed-rich harvested materials as a supplement alongside appropriate basic nutrition.
  • For animals that are quick to eat, it is better to use small amounts at a time.
  • For herbivores such as guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, and degus, this is an additional variation, not a staple product.

Geweldig!
