Product description

Bounty Paradise Tree Trunk 13 cm – robust birch wood tree trunk for small rodents

The Bounty Paradise Tree Trunk is a natural birch wood tree trunk for small rodents who love to hide, explore, and gnaw. The dense, hollowed-out shape provides your animal with a sheltered spot in the enclosure, while the two openings ensure a pleasant passageway and encourage more route formation.

At DRD, when it comes to natural houses, we look not only at the external dimensions but, more importantly, at how your animal uses the item. This tree trunk can serve as a hiding place, tunnel, gnawing object, lookout point, and landscaping element. On top, there is a handy indentation where you can place, for example, some herbs, dried flowers, or a small snack. This way, the house immediately becomes a small foraging spot as well.

Why choose Bounty Paradise?

The Bounty Paradise Tree Trunk is ideal when you are looking for a natural home that does more than just provide shelter. Your pet can hide inside, walk through it, sit on it, gnaw on it, and search for herbs or a snack in the alcove on top. As a result, this tree trunk truly becomes part of the decor.

The two openings make the little house extra interesting. Your pet can not only go in and out, but also create a route through the enclosure. This is great for hamsterscaping and gerbilscaping, where you create a logical whole using tunnels, bedding, cork, moss, and natural materials.

Birch wood has a light, natural appearance and combines beautifully with other materials such as cork, willow, bark, moss, humus, and dried flowers. This makes the Bounty Paradise Tree Trunk a good fit for an enclosure where you are not only looking for a little house, but also want to add more structure, gnawing fun, and a natural atmosphere.

Dimensions and size advice

The Bounty Paradise Tree Trunk is currently available in the size approx. 13 × 10 cm, with openings of approx. ø 7 cm. This size is particularly suitable for mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, and gerbils.

When it comes to hamsters, always pay close attention to your animal's build. For dwarf hamsters, this size is usually quite suitable. For Syrian hamsters, it is wise to check if the opening and interior space fit properly, especially if your hamster is somewhat larger or broader.

For which animals is the Bounty Paradise Tree Trunk suitable?

  • Mouse: suitable as a hiding place, tunnel, climbing object, and route element. Mice can walk through the openings, climb over the tree trunk, and explore the indentation at the top.
  • Dwarf hamster: suitable as a natural house or passageway in a hamsterscaping enclosure. Thanks to the open bottom, you can beautifully incorporate the log into the bedding.
  • Hamster: suitable as a hiding place, tunnel, and landscaping element. With Syrian hamsters, pay close attention to their body shape and check if the opening and interior space fit comfortably.
  • Gerbil: very suitable as a robust house, tunnel, and gnawing object. Gerbils can explore the log, gnaw on it, and use it in a deep burrow.

This tree trunk is not suitable as a house or tunnel for pygmy rats, rats, guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, and degus. For these animals, it is better to choose a more spacious house, larger tunnel, or other natural furnishing element that better suits their build.

Usage & placement

Place the Bounty Paradise Tree Trunk in a stable spot in the enclosure. Thanks to the open bottom, you can press it nicely into the bedding so that it blends in naturally with the rest of the decor. This works especially well for hamsterscaping and gerbilscaping, where houses and tunnels are often partially incorporated into the bedding.

The indentation on top makes the tree trunk extra fun for foraging. For example, place a small amount of dried herbs, flowers, leaves, or a small snack inside. Your pet will then have to sniff, search, and discover. This way, the little house immediately becomes part of an active snacking and sniffing moment.

For mice, you can combine the tree trunk with low climbing routes, branches, and natural tunnels. For dwarf hamsters and hamsters, it pairs nicely with deep bedding, sand, cork, and moss. For gerbils, you can use it as a sturdy gnawing and route element in a digging enclosure.

Cleaning & maintenance

Because this is a natural wood item, it is best to keep the Bounty Paradise Tree Trunk dry and clean. You can remove loose dirt with a brush or a dry cloth. In the event of a minor accident, you can clean the wood locally with a slightly damp cloth and, if necessary, a suitable urine remover, such as CSI Urine Spray.

Allow the wood to dry thoroughly after cleaning before placing the log back in the enclosure. Also, check regularly to ensure the house remains sturdy and tidy, especially for animals that like to gnaw.

Material/composition: birch wood.

Birch wood has a natural, light appearance and fits well in a scape with cork, moss, willow, bark, ground cover, and dried herbs. Because it is a natural product, every log may differ slightly in shape, color, and structure.

Good to know

The Bounty Paradise Tree Trunk is a natural product. Color, shape, thickness, structure, and size may therefore vary slightly from piece to piece. This makes every tree trunk unique and gives the enclosure a truly natural look.

Check the log regularly for wear. Signs of use are part of natural wood, especially with active rodents such as gerbils. Replace the item if it is gnawed too far, has become wet, or becomes less stable.
