Product description

Beaphar Lactol Feeding Set – bottle + teats

Sometimes you need a little extra help to gently supplement a young animal or one that's temporarily eating less. This Beaphar Lactol feeding set includes a compact feeding bottle, several teats, and a cleaning brush. This allows you to offer milk replacer or a thin porridge in a controlled manner, with a custom-made opening.

Plus points
Complete feeding set for controlled feeding: bottle + teats + cleaning brush.
  • Complete set: feeding bottle, multiple teats and cleaning brush
  • Custom opening: you can adjust the teat to fit yourself (small hole → drink quietly)
  • Useful for feeding young animals or when eating/drinking is a bit more difficult
  • Disadvantage: you have to make the hole in the teat yourself; take some time for that

Why a feeding set often works better than a quick supplemental feeding

Supplemental feeding is all about control: small amounts, a slow pace, and minimal spills. A syringe or pipette can be convenient, but a teat can be more comfortable when an animal really wants (and is able) to suck. This set allows you to adjust the opening for each animal and its age. This prevents an animal from swallowing too quickly and allows for a more relaxed feeding experience.

The cleaning brush helps clean the bottle thoroughly. This is important because milk replacer and porridge can easily accumulate in the edges and spouts. Hygiene and proper opening are often the difference between "it's going well" and "it's going too fast."

Fits well with this baby bottle
Are you using this feeding set as supplementary feeding? Then Beaphar Rodent & Rabbit Milk is a suitable milk replacer. Prepare according to the packaging and offer it in a controlled manner.

Which animals is this suitable for?

This kit is often used with small mammals such as rodents and rabbits, but can also be used with other growing pets. For DRD clients, it's especially useful as an aid in offering milk replacer or a thin porridge.

Use by animal species

  • Guinea pig : Supplemental feeding requires extra care. Use only appropriate food and, if in doubt, follow the advice of a veterinarian or animal shelter.
  • Rabbit : Supplemental feeding may be necessary, especially for young rabbits or those recovering. Work slowly, feed small amounts, and follow a reliable feeding schedule.
  • Chinchilla : Only when absolutely necessary. Keep the pace slow and make sure the animal doesn't "snap" at the pacifier.

Instructions for use

  1. Pierce the tip of the teat with a needle or cut off a very small point.
  2. Test first: hold the bottle upside down. It should drip, not flow.
  3. Prepare the milk substitute according to the packaging and let it cool until lukewarm.
  4. Allow the animal to suckle on its own. Do not squeeze the bottle (unless you can administer the dose in a very controlled manner).
  5. Clean the bottle and teat immediately after use. If you use dish soap, rinse thoroughly.

Important to know

  • An opening that's too large can cause choking. Always start as small as possible and only increase the size if necessary.
  • In case of sick animals, dehydration or very young young, advice from a veterinarian or experienced shelter is advisable.
  • Check pacifiers for wear or cracks and replace them in time.
  • Never allow an animal to drink lying flat on its back; this increases the risk of something going wrong.

Compound

Bottle, cleaning brush, nipples.

Frequently Asked Questions

How big should the hole in the teat be?
So small that the liquid drips when you turn the bottle upside down. If it flows, the opening is usually too large.

Can I also give some porridge?
That's possible, as long as it's thin enough for them to drink easily. For thicker food, a syringe is sometimes more practical.

How do I clean the bottle properly?
Rinse immediately after use with warm water, use the brush on the spout and edges, and always rinse off dish soap thoroughly.

I'm not sure if this is suitable for my pet. What now?
Feel free to contact us; we're happy to help you decide which approach is best for your species and situation.
