Rabbit toilets: clean, hygienic and much less cleaning work
Rabbits are naturally clean animals: they usually choose one specific spot to urinate and defecate. A good rabbit toilet cleverly caters to this behavior. The enclosure stays cleaner, there are fewer urine stains, and cleaning is much faster.
Why a spacious toilet is important
A rabbit litter box should be large enough . Many "rodent litter boxes" are too small for rabbits and are simply not comfortable to use. Instead, choose a spacious litter box where your rabbit can sit and turn comfortably. This helps with potty training and keeps the cage cleaner.
How do you fill a rabbit litter box?
Always use a different litter in the toilet than in the rest of the enclosure. This allows rabbits to clearly distinguish between "toilet area" and "lying area." Choose a suitable litter (pellets or other absorbent litter).
Tip: Rabbits often eat and poop at the same time. Therefore, it's best to hang the hay rack above the litter box . This makes the litter box more logical for your rabbit. See the right litter here: rabbit litter .
How to keep the toilet attractive (and prevent accidents)
Rabbits appreciate a clean litter box. If a litter box is too wet or dirty, they may move to another corner. Scoop out wet spots regularly and refresh as needed. Still not perfect? Place the litter box in the spot your rabbit already prefers to pee, and if necessary, place a few droppings in the litter box to "explain" why.
Extra tip: naturally fresh (optional)
Want an extra fresh toilet area? You can optionally add 100% natural scented granules . Keep it mild: the toilet should still smell like "rabbit," otherwise your rabbit might become hesitant about the location.
