De Knaagdier Kruidenier® – DRD’s premium own brand

This product is part of De Knaagdier Kruidenier®, the premium own brand of DRD Knaagdierwinkel®. Under this brand, we select natural herbs, flowers, leaves, harvested plants and treats for rodents and rabbits. Clear ingredient lists mean you know exactly what you are offering your pet.

These Dandelion Pellets fit that approach: one recognisable herb in a practical form. A natural herbal supplement for adding variety and creating little searching activities.

One ingredient, easy to divide

Looking for a herbal supplement with a straightforward composition? These pellets consist of dried and pressed dandelion. No other ingredients are added. There is no need to work through a long ingredient list to know what you are offering your pet.

The pellet shape makes it easy to set aside a small amount. This is useful when offering a reward by hand or spreading it across different hiding places. Prepare the amount beforehand and use it during your interaction or searching activity.

The compact shape is also practical when you want to offer a reward in a particular place. Put some pellets in an accessible searching spot or use them in an appropriate treat puzzle. This lets you alternate between offering a treat directly and letting your pet discover it independently.

A small reward while getting to know your pet

A little treat can be a lovely opportunity to build a connection with your pet at a gentle pace. Offer a little dandelion pellet and let your pet decide whether to come closer. Watching, sniffing and stepping away again are all part of getting acquainted.

You can offer the reward from your hand or place it close to your hand first. Take your time. You can also offer a small reward occasionally during a familiar care routine.

Hide and let your pet search

For small rodents, you can hide a small amount of pellets in different accessible places around the enclosure. Place a little between enclosure furnishings, for example, or spread a small amount over a clean, dry searching area. Your pet can then discover where the treats are.

Start with easy hiding places and change the location later. There is no need to make the activity complicated. Even a small amount in several places adds more variety than putting everything together in a bowl.

For rats, guinea pigs and rabbits: combine with foraging toys

For rats, guinea pigs and rabbits, you can also use Dandelion Pellets in appropriate foraging toys. Choose a design that suits your pet and allows easy access to the pellets.

  • Treat ball: put a small amount in a refillable treat ball. Check that the pellets fall through the opening easily when your pet moves the ball.
  • Snuffle mat: spread some pellets between the strips so your pet can use its nose to search for the reward.
  • Treat board: place a few pellets in the compartments. Start with a simple setup so your pet can discover how to reach the reward.

Feel free to alternate between these options. Use the amount you prepared beforehand to keep track of the total offered.

Suitability and composition

Suitable for: mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, gerbils, rats, guinea pigs, rabbits and degus, as a supplement alongside their daily diet.

Composition: 100% natural dried and pressed dandelion.

Good to know

Let your pet get used to a new supplement at its own pace. Offer a small amount first and check whether it is eaten. Using the pellets both while building contact and in a searching activity? Keep the total amount offered in mind.

Store the pack in a cool, dry place and keep it tightly closed. Check any pellets left in the enclosure and remove leftovers that have become damp or dirty. This keeps the searching area clean for next time.
