Product description

JR Farm Foraging Meadow Herb Meadow for Rodents & Rabbits

JR Farm Herb Meadow is a natural foraging meadow for rabbits and rodents. It is a firmly compacted piece of meadow with wildflowers, herbs, grasses, and fiber-rich plant parts. Your animal can sniff, nibble, pull, search, and explore it. This makes the product particularly suitable as natural enrichment in the enclosure.

This meadow is listed as a single product on the website, but you can choose from several variants: Dandelion, Flowers, or Vegetables. All variants have the same base of wildflowers, herbs, and grasses, but differ in the extra additions on top of the herb meadow.

Why choose a foraging pasture?

Rabbits and rodents naturally spend a lot of time searching, sniffing, nibbling, and exploring. In an enclosure, it is therefore valuable to offer products that stimulate this behavior. JR Farm Herb Meadow is a fun and natural choice for this: your animal gets not only something tasty to nibble on, but also an object to keep them occupied.

The compressed structure ensures that your animal has to work to dislodge the pieces. This makes feeding slower and less monotonous than loose herbs in a bowl. Rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, mice, hamsters, and gerbils, in particular, can enjoy engaging with scent, texture, and taste in a fun way thanks to this.

For animals that enjoy digging or exploring, such as hamsters, mice, and gerbils, you can also temporarily place the meadow in the enclosure as an exploration area. For rabbits and guinea pigs, it is primarily a herb-rich addition for sniffing, pulling, and nibbling. For chinchillas and degus, you can offer it as short-term enrichment, with hay always remaining the most important foundation.

This product is supplementary feed and enrichment. Therefore, it does not replace main food, hay, or daily care. View it as a natural activity to make the enclosure more interesting.

For which animals is JR Farm Kruidenweide suitable?

JR Farm Herb Meadow is suitable for rabbits and rodents. The manufacturer also states that the product is suitable for turtles, but at DRD Knaagdierwinkel®, we focus this product primarily on rabbits and rodents.

  • Rabbits: as a herb-rich forage product alongside unlimited hay.
  • Guinea pigs: as a natural addition to sniff and nibble on.
  • Hamsters, dwarf hamsters, mice, and gerbils: as a temporary area for exploration and foraging in the enclosure.
  • Rats and pygmy rats: as enrichment for exploring, pulling, and nibbling.
  • Chinchillas and degus: as short, herb-rich variations; hay remains the basis.

Usage & dosage

Place the herb meadow in the enclosure or in a separate play or foraging corner. You can offer the product in its entirety, but for smaller animals, it is often more practical to break off a section or offer it temporarily. This keeps things organized and allows you to clearly see how much your animal is using.

Check the pasture regularly. If it becomes wet, dirty, or heavily mixed with bedding, remove it from the enclosure. This keeps the product fresh and prevents old residue from remaining.

What does this compound mean?

The basis of the three variants consists of whole plants of wildflowers, herbs, and grasses. As a result, this product is particularly interesting as natural enrichment and foraging material. The crude fiber value is high, which is consistent with dried plants and grasses.

The variants differ mainly in their added ingredients. Dandelion is herbaceous, Flowers is floral, and Vegetables contains carrot and parsnip. This way, you can easily alternate without immediately choosing a completely different product.

Good to know

  • This product is a complementary food and enrichment, not a staple food.
  • Always provide appropriate staple food and unlimited hay to herbivorous animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, and degus.
  • Check the pasture regularly and remove it when it has become wet or dirty.
  • The herb meadow is packaged in a cardboard box/tray. The contents may differ slightly from the photo, as it consists of natural plant parts.
  • Allow animals to get used to these types of herb-rich products gradually if they are not yet accustomed to them.
