Eclectus parrots (Eclectus) have a unique diet. In the wild, they primarily choose fruits, buds, seeds, and nuts. In the living room, this means plenty of fresh food and a dry mix that you carefully portion for variety and energy. Mixerama Eclectus Parrot Fruit & Nuts is such a mix: richly packed with seeds, vegetables, fruits, berries, and nuts, so your bird really has something to choose from every day.
In short
✔ Lots of variation in structure and taste: stimulates natural searching and foraging behaviour
✔ Fruits, berries and vegetables provide variety in addition to your daily fresh menu
✔ With nuts as a flavouring (7%) for active birds and fussy eaters
✔ Easy to dose: you determine the balance between fresh and dry yourself
✔ Fits well in a diet where fresh food is the basis (such as with Eclectus parrots)
✘ Less suitable if you want to keep the daily menu very "light"; then it is better to choose a vegetable/herb mix and add fruit/nuts in a targeted manner
Eclectus parrots are true fruit eaters. They generally do best on a diet that consists primarily of fresh fruits and vegetables, supplemented with a limited amount of dry food. This Mixerama mix is designed to supplement that daily fresh diet with seeds, vegetables, fruits, and nuts. This way, you offer variety without your bird eating only "out of the bag" all day.
The mix is made up of different ingredient groups. Floury seeds provide a solid base, oilseeds and nuts provide flavor and energy, and fruits and vegetables add color and variety to the bowl. Combining this mix with fresh food (in a fixed ratio) keeps your daily menu clear and consistent.
Use this mix as part of a varied daily menu.

Is this a complete food for Eclectus parrots?
No. This is a supplementary dry mix. Fresh fruit and vegetables should make up the majority of a parrot's daily diet.
Can I also give this to other parrots or large parakeets?
This mix is primarily designed for Eclectus parrots. For other species, you can use it as a variation, but always consider your species' needs and dose nuts and oilseeds accordingly.
My bird is choosing the tastiest bits. What now?
This is normal with mixtures. Work with small portions, offering fresh food first and the dry mix later in the day. This way, you also help your bird get the hang of it.
When would I prefer a vegetable and herb mix?
If you're consciously keeping your daily menu lighter, or prefer to portion out your fruit and nuts separately, a vegetable and herb mix is a great base, with fruit and nuts as a targeted addition.
