The JR Farm Insect Fountain is a small drinking and mineral station for bees, bumblebees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects. The fountain consists of a bowl with an absorbent wick and a mineral mix of natural clay, salt from the Himalayan region, and anise. This allows you to easily create a spot in your garden, on your patio, or on your balcony where insects can drink and absorb minerals.
Especially on warm and dry days, small water features can be valuable for insects. A regular deep bowl of water is not ideal for bees, bumblebees, and butterflies, as they can easily slip in it. The Insect Fountain works differently: the wick brings the liquid to the surface, allowing insects to drink peacefully without ending up in deep water.

Insects such as bees, bumblebees, and butterflies need flowers, but also safe places to drink. In a dry garden or on a warm balcony, clean water is not always easy to find. With the JR Farm Insect Fountain, you provide beneficial insects with a small, easily accessible drinking spot.
The absorbent wick is the main difference compared to a regular water bowl. The wick absorbs the water and brings it to the top of the bowl. As a result, insects can drink at the moist spot without having to land on a deep water surface.
The included mineral mixture consists of natural clay, salt from the Himalayan region, and anise. You use only a pinch of the mix at a time. This allows you to refill the source multiple times, making it a handy product for insect season.
This Insect Source is intended for garden insects and not as a food or water bowl for rodents, rabbits, or birds. Therefore, use it outdoors or in a sheltered spot where insects can access it.
Put a pinch of the mineral mixture into the bowl, fill the fountain with water, and mix gently. Then place the Insect Fountain in a quiet, sheltered spot outdoors. A location near flowering plants, herbs, or shrubs is often most attractive to insects.
Check the source regularly, especially in warm weather. Refill the water when it evaporates and change it when it becomes dirty. Rinse the bowl clean in between uses to keep the drinking spot fresh.
Preferably use the supplied mineral mix with water, as indicated by JR Farm. This keeps the source in good working order and prevents the wick or bowl from becoming sticky. If you want to attract extra butterflies, you can optionally offer a small piece of overripe fruit nearby and remove it in time.
Choose a spot that is quiet, light, and sheltered. Do not place the fountain in the middle of a busy walkway, nor in a place where it can easily be knocked over. Near flowering plants is often ideal, as insects already come there looking for nectar.
Do you have a balcony? Then you can combine the source with pots of lavender, thyme, sage, marigold, sunflower, or other insect-friendly plants, for example. This way, you turn a small corner into an attractive spot for bees, bumblebees, and butterflies.
