Are Herbs Healthy for Hamsters and Dwarf Hamsters?

Herbs have been used for centuries. Herbs are also highly recommended for animals because of their good health benefits. Herbs are not only rich in fiber but also in vitamins and minerals that benefit the vitality of the animals. Hamsters eat herbs as needed, which means they supplement their basic diet with herbs when they need them. Offering herbs in addition to basic food is a form of food enrichment for the animals. The different tastes and smells stimulate the senses and give the hamsters a different feeding experience.

Are Seeds Healthy for Hamsters & Dwarf Hamsters?

Hamsters are real seed eaters! In the wild, a Hamster's diet consists of more than 90% seeds. The animals collect the seeds and take them to their castle where they store the seeds for the winter. Hamsters and dwarf hamsters have a high metabolism, which means they need energy-rich food. You will find a wide variety of seeds with us, with our preference being for seeds that have not yet been harvested. The unharvested seeds are still hidden in the plant, so the animals have to harvest these seeds themselves. The latter ensures that the hamsters can REALLY show their natural behavior. With their small hands they grasp the plants and skillfully remove the seeds from the casing and then quickly eat them or hoard them.

It is not only fun for the animals to harvest their own food, but it is also fun for our owners to see the animals busy. This is pure natural behavior and it gives the animals enormous joy.
