Watchbox Flat Roof House – a peek beneath the bedding
The Watchbox Flat Roof House gives your small rodent a wooden house and lets you take an occasional peek inside. Place this viewing house against the glass panel of the enclosure so you can look in through the glass. It is a lovely addition to a hamsterscape where the house disappears beneath the bedding while the front remains visible.
The house is made from untreated wood and measures 30 × 13 × 12 cm. It is suitable for mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, gerbils and dwarf rats. The simple slot-together system makes assembly straightforward. Want to expand your setup? You can stack several Watchbox houses to create different levels.

A little house with a view inside
With a regular house, you mainly see what happens around it. The Watchbox also makes part of the interior visible. By placing the viewing side against the glass, you can look inside from outside the enclosure. There is no need to lift the house or take it out of the bedding to do so.
The wooden interior also has a playful detail: the inner walls feature pictures of a little furnished home. The product photos show a bed, a sofa and a lamp, among other details. This makes the viewing house enjoyable for you to look at too. Its subtle wooden colour blends nicely with a natural enclosure setup.
How much you can see inside depends on where you place it and what your pet collects in the house. The Watchbox gives you a glimpse inside; your rodent then decides how to use the space. That is part of the fun of checking occasionally to see what has changed.
How to include the Watchbox in a hamsterscape
Assemble the house using the slot-together system and choose a position against the front or side glass panel of the enclosure. Turn the viewing side towards the glass. Decide beforehand which side you would like to look in from, so the Watchbox remains visible once you have added the bedding.
You can incorporate the house into the bedding layer, with bedding around the wooden structure. This makes it part of the underground layout. The entrance remains accessible to your pet while you can take a look inside from outside the enclosure. It creates a lovely effect: above the bedding you see your hamsterscape, and below it you discover a little furnished house.
Combining it with bedding and nesting material helps the house blend into the rest of the enclosure. It does not have to stand on its own as a decorative piece: partially burying it brings the idea of an underground viewing house to life.
Stacking several houses
The flat roof also makes this Watchbox an interesting option if you want to create several levels. You can stack houses on top of one another to build a taller arrangement along the glass. This gives you more ways to organise the available space in your hamsterscape.
Choose the number of levels according to the space in the enclosure and where you want to place the arrangement. For each level, consider access to the entrance and visibility from outside. This keeps the idea of the Watchbox the same on every level: a house for your pet, with a glimpse inside for you.
