The Fizi Hammock Tunnel 44 cm is a soft, padded tunnel that you can hang in the enclosure. This creates a sheltered hanging spot where your animal can crawl through, rest, or retreat for a moment. Dwarf rats, rats, and ferrets, in particular, enjoy using these types of tunnels as a cozy sleeping and playing spot.
For mice, the tunnel can also be fun if the enclosure has sufficient hanging options and you carefully check that they use the textile properly. For degus, this tunnel is only suitable if your animals leave the textile alone and do not gnaw on it. As soon as loose threads, holes, or gnawing damage appear, remove the tunnel from the enclosure.

A hammock tunnel combines shelter with movement. Your animal can walk through the tunnel, lie inside it, or use it as a safe resting place above the bottom. This makes the tunnel particularly interesting for animals that enjoy climbing, scrambling, and using different levels in their enclosure, such as rats and ferrets.
At DRD, we always pay close attention to animal behavior when it comes to textile products. Some animals use textiles neatly as a sleeping or resting place, while others gnaw them to pieces or take them away as nesting material. Therefore, this tunnel is especially suitable for animals that leave textiles hanging safely and use them calmly.
Rats often really enjoy using hammocks and tunnels. They sleep together, like to seek out sheltered spots, and enjoy moving through different levels of the cage. A hammock tunnel can therefore be a nice addition to platforms, ropes, houses, and other routes in the enclosure.
Hang the tunnel so that your rats can easily get in and out. Use it, for example, between two platforms, next to a ladder, or as a soft sleeping route in a rat cage. Do check regularly that the hooks are securely attached and that the fabric remains intact.
Mice can use textile tunnels as climbing and hiding places, but they may also gnaw on the fabric or take loose pieces back to the nest. Therefore, only offer the tunnel when you can closely monitor how your mice interact with it.
If you see them pulling out threads or gnawing through fabric, more natural materials such as wood, cork, cardboard, rope, or natural tunnels are often a better choice.
For ferrets, this tunnel can be a nice, soft place to lie down and crawl. Ferrets enjoy using tunnels, hanging spots, and sheltered places to rest. Just make sure the tunnel is securely attached and that your ferret can safely get in and out of it.
Check the textile regularly. Ferrets can be playful and vigorous, so seams, hooks, and suspension points must be closely monitored.
Degus are true gnawers. Therefore, this tunnel is only suitable for degus that leave textiles alone and do not gnaw them to pieces or eat them. As soon as you see your degus pulling at the fabric, loosening threads, or making holes, remove the tunnel from the enclosure immediately.
For degus, sturdy platforms, wooden hiding places, gnawing material, branches, and species-appropriate furnishings remain the safer foundation. This tunnel is therefore only an extra option for degus that neatly use textiles.
Securely attach the tunnel to the bars or to a safe hanging spot in the enclosure. Check that the hooks are securely fastened and that the tunnel is not hanging too high. Your animal must be able to enter and exit easily without falling hard when jumping or climbing out.
| Usage | Practical tip |
| Sleeping place | Hang the tunnel in a quiet place where your animals can lie sheltered. |
| Crawl tunnel | Place the tunnel as a passage between two safe points in the enclosure. |
| Rat cage | Combine with platforms, ropes, ladders, and hammocks for a varied route. |
| Textile inspection | Check daily for loose threads, holes, torn seams, or rodent damage. |
Remove the tunnel as soon as your animal chews through the textile, pulls out threads, or tries to eat pieces of fabric. The textile must remain intact to be used safely. It is also advisable to wash or temporarily replace the tunnel if it is dirty, wet, or has a strong smell.
For animals that destroy a lot, more natural and sturdy material is often a better choice. Think of wooden houses, cork tunnels, platforms, ropes, cardboard, or foraging material that is better suited to gnawing behavior.
The Fizi Hammock Tunnel can be hand-washed. First, remove hair, bedding, and loose dirt. Gently hand-wash the tunnel and let it dry completely before hanging it back up.
After washing, check that the seams, hooks, and hanging points are still secure. Do not use the tunnel if the textile has become thin, torn, or frayed.
Textile is not the best choice for every animal. Use this tunnel primarily for animals that leave textiles hanging neatly and sleep peacefully in them or crawl through them. For animals that destroy, pull out, or take fabric to the nest, it is better to choose natural and chew-resistant materials.
Never hang the tunnel so high that your animal can fall from a great height. Always ensure a safe route to the tunnel and check that the suspension points remain securely in place.
You use the tunnel as a soft hangout, sleeping place, crawl tunnel, or hiding place for animals that like to climb and lie sheltered.
Yes, this tunnel is very suitable for rats. Rats often enjoy using hammocks and tunnels to sleep in together, crawl through, and create routes.
Yes, pygmy rats can also use this tunnel as a soft hangout or crawl tunnel. Do pay attention to the hanging height and check regularly for wear and tear.
That is possible, provided your mice do not gnaw through the textile. Carefully check that they use the tunnel safely and do not take any torn-up fabric back to the nest.
Only if your degus leave textiles alone. Degus are real gnawers, so remove the tunnel immediately in case of gnawing damage, loose threads, or holes.
Yes, the tunnel can be suitable for ferrets as a soft place to hang and crawl. However, do check regularly that the fastenings and the fabric remain intact.
No, for hamsters and gerbils we prefer to recommend natural hiding places, bedding, tunnels made of wood/cork, or other material that suits their behavior better. Gerbils usually destroy textiles quickly.
No, a hanging textile tunnel does not make sense for guinea pigs and rabbits. For chinchillas, we prefer to recommend sturdy platforms and hiding places that are better suited to their behavior.
Yes, the tunnel is suitable for hand washing. Let it dry completely before hanging it back in the enclosure.
Replace the tunnel when holes, loose threads, torn seams, fraying, or other wear occur.
The Fizi 44 cm Hammock Tunnel is a soft and cozy choice for mice, pygmy rats, rats, and ferrets who like to hang, crawl, and sleep in a sheltered spot.
