Gerbils dig a lot and like to gnaw. Therefore, a heavy, stable container usually works best. If you have a group, consider providing multiple feeding stations to keep things calm around mealtimes.

2) Glass (hygienic and clear)
- Handy if you want to quickly see what is still available.
- Can also be used as a water bowl, provided it is positioned stably.

- Durable and practical; preferably choose a model that is stable or can be secured.
4) Natural (wood/tree trunk/coconut) – especially nice as a “cup”
- Gives a natural look and fits nicely into a scape.
- Handy for dry food/snacks; take extra care with wet food (faster cleaning).

- If you have multiple gerbils, consider using two feeding stations to limit hassle around food.
Hygiene & maintenance
Check the bowl daily for soiling. Wash food bowls regularly with warm water (and mild dish soap if necessary) and rinse thoroughly. If you (occasionally) provide fresh food, remove leftovers promptly to keep the bowl fresh. If you see cracks, chips, or sharp edges, replace the bowl.
