Welcome to the contents page of Snuffelbox Hamster #16. This box is all about hamsterscaping, harvesting, gnawing, shredding, foraging and cheerful variety in the enclosure. Hamsters are curious animals that love using their little paws, nose and teeth. That is why we have put together this Snuffelbox with a mix of snacks, harvest products, nesting material, scaping items and a new cardboard enrichment item.

With this box, you can enrich your hamster’s enclosure in a playful way. You can place the harvest products upright in the bedding, use the Crinkle Nesting Material as nesting material or as a colourful accent, hide small snacks and use the cardboard bridge as climbing, gnawing and shredding material. This gives your hamster something new to investigate, collect and discover at its own pace.

Pumpkin flakes and peeled pumpkin seeds

Pumpkin has its own soft vegetable flavour that is clearly different from many other vegetable snacks. That variety is exactly what makes pumpkin flakes so much fun for hamsters. You can offer them separately, sprinkle them through the bedding or use them in a small foraging corner.

Peeled pumpkin seeds are also a must-have in this box. They are ideal as a small reward, for example when you want to gently help your hamster get used to your hands. Because pumpkin seeds are nutritious and rich, it is best to offer them in small amounts.

Crinkle Nesting Material in spring/summer mix

The Crinkle Nesting Material in cheerful spring/summer colours can be used in two ways. You can offer it as nesting material, so your hamster can collect it and use it in the nest. You can also use it as a colourful accent in your hamsterscape, for example around a house, bridge or foraging spot.

A small handful is often enough to give the enclosure a fresh and cheerful look. Place it loosely in the enclosure, so your hamster can decide whether to take it, move it or use it as nesting material.

Vegetable biscuits, Veggie Bites and a gnawing fruit

For snack time, we have added several small treats. The vegetable biscuits are meant to spoil your hamster every now and then. The Veggie Bites Vegetable are small vegetable nibbles that you can also use as a decorative accent in a scape. Place one near a harvest corner or half-hidden between the bedding.

There is also a gnawing fruit in the box. This can be a banana, pear or peach. Each box contains a different variant, so we cannot say exactly which one you have received. What we do know: your hamster will enjoy a cheerful little gnawing moment.

Cardboard bridge: walking, gnawing and shredding

The cardboard bridge is new in the range and a really fun enrichment item. Because the bridge is made of cardboard, it is not an item that will last forever. That is actually part of its function: your hamster can sniff it, walk over it, gnaw it and keep busy with it.

When your hamster walks over the cardboard bridge, it feels different under the paws than wood, bedding or stone. This variation in texture makes the enclosure more interesting. Hamsters also sometimes need to release a bit of energy. You can see the cardboard bridge a little bit like a punching bag: something your hamster can engage with in a natural way.

Extra fun: sprinkle a few small seeds or kernels into the openings of the bridge. Your hamster then has to really work to get them out with its little paws. This turns the bridge into a small foraging puzzle.

Mixerama Syrian hamster food as a surprising foraging mix

We have also added Syrian hamster food from Mixerama. It is something different, and that is exactly what makes it interesting. Hamsters enjoy discovering something new every now and then, especially when you do not serve it in a food bowl but sprinkle a small amount through the bedding.

Use it mainly as a surprising foraging mix for extra variety. Sprinkle a small amount through the scape, between the nesting material or around the cardboard bridge. This encourages your hamster to search, sniff and collect, exactly as hamsters like to do.

Green wheat ears and oat harvest

Harvest products are ideal for hamsterscaping. They look beautiful in the enclosure, add height and structure and allow your hamster to harvest for itself. This independent discovering and picking with the little paws is exactly what makes these products so enjoyable.

You can place the ears loosely in the enclosure, but the nicest effect comes from placing them upright or at an angle in the bedding. This creates a small harvest field where your hamster can walk through, sniff and pick for itself.

Suction cup with clamp for harvest products

Because many hamsters live in a glass enclosure, we have also added a suction cup with clamp. You can use it to attach a few harvest stems nicely to the glass, for example. This keeps the harvest product in place better and allows you to add height to the scape without everything falling over straight away.

Place the suction cup a little higher, so your hamster cannot easily reach the suction cup itself. The stems may of course be interesting, but the suction cup is not meant to be gnawed. By placing the clamp smartly, you create a fun harvest point that your hamster has to work for a little.

How to use Snuffelbox Hamster #16

You do not have to place everything in the enclosure at once. By spreading the items over several moments, it stays interesting for your hamster for longer. For example, start with the cardboard bridge, some Crinkle Nesting Material and a few harvest products. Later, add the pumpkin flakes, Veggie Bites, vegetable biscuits or the gnawing fruit as a new discovery moment.

It is better to hide small snacks instead of placing them all in plain sight. Sprinkle a little Mixerama Syrian hamster food through the bedding, place a pumpkin seed in an opening of the cardboard bridge or attach the green wheat ears to the glass with the suction cup. This turns food searching into an activity.

Good to know

Check enrichment materials regularly and remove wet, dirty or heavily gnawed parts. Cardboard is intended as temporary enrichment material and may therefore wear, tear and be shredded. Offer rich snacks such as pumpkin seeds in moderation and preferably spread the different snack moments over several days.
