What is Ekoo Animal Bedding?
Ekoo Animal Bedding is a brand that offers various types of bedding and blends, including cotton varieties and combinations with fiber/cardboard textures. This allows you to choose what suits your furnishing style: a soft comfort layer, a practical base, or a blend that's also fun to burrow and nest in.
Eco-friendly cotton: when do you choose it?
When customers say "Ekoo cotton," they usually mean the cotton bedding from the Ekoo line. This is often chosen as a soft top layer or as a separate resting/nesting zone. It's perfect for a habitat with distinct zones, such as under a house, in a sleeping house, or in a quiet corner where your pet likes to nest.
Benefits of Ekoo ground covering
- ✓Comfortable: ideal for resting and nesting zones (especially with Ekoo cotton).
- ✓Absorbent: Helps practically control moisture and odors.
- ✓Handy in zones: combine base layer + comfort layer + toilet area.
- ✓Flexible to arrange: you choose what you need per corner (dry, soft or easy to refresh).
Usage tips per stay
- Create a clear toilet zone (which you refresh more often) and a dry rest zone (which stays nice longer).
- Use Ekoo cotton as a comfort layer in a corner or under a house/tunnel.
- Are you working with hamster or gerbil scaping? Combine textured substrates (basic substrate) with a softer Ekoo layer for contrast and comfort.
- Place water and feeding areas on a stable, dry surface to limit wet areas.
✓How much ground cover do you need?
Formula: (L × W × layer thickness in cm) ÷ 1000 = liters
- Preferably measure the internal dimensions of your accommodation (L x W).
- Choose your layer thickness based on animal species, digging behavior and layout.
- When spreading deeply, the ground often sinks somewhat after the spreading has been completed: it is better to allow a little more room for this.
- Number of bags: litres required ÷ volume per bag.
Example: 100 × 50 cm with 20 cm layer → (100 × 50 × 20) ÷ 1000 = 100 liters
Internal dimensions 10 cm 15 cm 20 cm 30 cm 80 × 40 cm 32 L 48 L 64 L 96 L 100 × 40 cm 40 L 60 L 80 L 120 L 100 × 50 cm 50 L 75 L 100 L 150 L

Maintenance & Refresh
- Spot clean daily: remove wet/used areas, especially around water points and toilet corners.
- Refresh the toilet area more often than the rest (this makes a big difference in the odor experience).
- Don't always refresh the entire enclosure at once; for some animals, partial refreshment works better.
- Check corners and under houses for clumping/moisture and change there sooner.
Good to know
- ✓When changing your linens, always check for loose, long fibers and remove any that you find.
- ✓If you're using cotton as a top layer, keep it primarily for the resting area and combine it with a firmer base layer for the rest of the enclosure.
