Product description

JR Farm Mash for Herbivores

JR Farm Herbivore Porridge is a grain-free porridge food for temporary use with herbivorous animals such as dwarf rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, and degus. The fine mix is prepared with lukewarm water into a soft, porridge-like food. Convenient when you want to temporarily offer a soft, easily mixable food alongside normal care and appropriate advice.

The composition consists of meadow plants from the Alpine foothills, pea flakes, linseed, dandelion, narrow-leaved plantain, nettle, parsley, oat plant, and pectin. As a result, this porridge has a plant-based foundation with fibers, herbs, and recognizable ingredients suitable for herbivorous animals.

The package contains 200 grams. How long this lasts depends on the animal species, the desired consistency of the porridge, and the amount of dry food you use per tablespoon. As a practical guideline, you can count on approximately 8 to 10 grams of dry food per full tablespoon.

Why choose JR Farm Mash for Herbivores?

Sometimes you want to be able to temporarily offer a soft food to a herbivorous animal. In that case, it is convenient if the food is easy to prepare, mixes well with water, and consists of ingredients suitable for plant-eating animals. JR Farm Papvoer voor Herbivoren has been developed for this purpose: a fine, grain-free porridge that you prepare with lukewarm water.

The base consists of plants from permanent grassland in the Alpine foothills. According to the manufacturer, this includes various grasses and meadow plants, among others, timothy grass, tall oat, cocksfoot, meadow fescue, red clover, dandelion, narrow-leaved plantain, daisy, marguerite, parsnip, sorrel, vetch, yarrow, and other meadow plants. This gives the fertilizer a natural, plant-based foundation.

Additionally, the mix contains pea flakes, flaxseed, dandelion, narrow-leaved plantain, nettle, parsley, oat plant, and pectin. This makes the composition clear and geared towards herbivorous animals. The food is not intended as a regular snack, but as a temporary porridge food when soft food is desired.

Because this is a temporary food, it remains important to closely monitor your animal. If your rabbit, guinea pig, chinchilla, or degu is clearly eating less than normal, it is advisable to seek appropriate advice in a timely manner. This hand-feeding formula can be practical for care, but it does not replace a diagnosis or treatment by a veterinarian.

For which animals is this food suitable?

JR Farm Herbivore Porridge is suitable for herbivorous animals such as dwarf rabbits, rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, and degus. These animals have a feeding pattern centered on plant-based, fiber-rich food. Hay remains the daily basis for these animals when they normally eat independently.

This hand-feeding formula is not intended for hamsters, dwarf hamsters, mice, gerbils, or rats. They are not true herbivores and have a different feeding pattern. Always choose species-specific food for these animals.

Feeding & use

Mix the porridge with lukewarm water until it forms a soft, porridge-like liquid. Stir well and let it stand briefly so that the food can absorb moisture. Always check that the porridge is not too hot before offering it.

The manufacturer recommends, as a guideline, two full tablespoons of dry food three times a day for dwarf rabbits and one full tablespoon of dry food three times a day for guinea pigs. Mix this with lukewarm water to the desired porridge consistency. For chinchillas and degus, the correct amount may vary depending on the situation; adjust the amount to the animal and seek appropriate advice if in doubt.

Always prepare the porridge fresh and remove any leftovers after use. Prepared porridge dries out and can become less tasty if left standing for too long.

How long does one package last?

JR Farm Papvoer voor Herbivoren contains 200 grams of dry food. Because a full tablespoon can vary per person and depending on product texture, we practically calculate with approximately 8 to 10 grams of dry food per full tablespoon.

Usage Dry food guideline Use per 200 grams
1 dwarf rabbit 6 full tablespoons per day about 3 to 4 days
1 guinea pig 3 full tablespoons per day about 6 to 8 days
Chinchilla or degu depending on the animal and the situation depending on the dosage

This is a practical calculation aid. Preferably weigh the dry amount once, so you know exactly how much your full tablespoon contains.

Compound

Plants of permanent grassland from the Alpine foothills, pea flakes, linseed, dandelion, narrow-leaved plantain, nettle, parsley, oat plant, pectin.

Analytical constituents

Crude protein 21.6%, crude fat 2.5%, crude fiber 13.2%, crude ash 11.4%, sodium 637 mg/kg, calcium 6293 mg/kg, phosphorus 3815 mg/kg.

What does this compound mean?

The composition has a plant-based foundation with pasture plants, herbs, linseed, and pectin. The relatively high protein content comes from the plant-based components in the mix. The crude fiber is suitable for a diet of herbivorous animals, but the normal fiber base always remains hay for animals that eat independently.

Because the food is mixed with lukewarm water, a soft porridge is created that is easy to portion. This makes this food practical when you temporarily need a soft herbivore food.

Good to know

  • Always prepare the porridge fresh with lukewarm water.
  • Check the temperature before offering the porridge.
  • Remove residue after use.
  • Use this food temporarily and appropriate to your animal's situation.
  • If there is clearly less eating, weight loss, or if you have any doubts, it is advisable to contact a veterinarian.
