Knaagdier Kruidenier® Coarse Dried Narrow-leaved Plantain is a natural leaf variety for rodents and rabbits. The coarser leaf structure makes this product ideal for mixing with hay, scattering loosely, or using as foraging material in the enclosure.
DRD chooses narrow-leaved plantain because it is a fine, accessible leaf type that fits well with a natural feeding moment. The leaves provide scent, texture, and variety without having to immediately give large portions. This way, eating becomes more than just emptying a bowl: your animal can search, sniff, select, and gather.
✔ Pure leaf variety without unnecessary additives
✔ Coarse structure: nice for searching, dragging, and selecting
✔ Ideal as a topping for hay or as a scattering mix
✔ Suitable for snack plates, foraging mats, and sniffing boxes
✔ Fits beautifully in natural enclosures and aquascaping setups
✔ From De Knaagdier Kruidenier®, carefully selected for rodents and rabbits
This product is part of De Knaagdier Kruidenier®, the premium private label of DRD Knaagdierwinkel®. Under this brand, we select natural herbs, flowers, leaves, and mixes suitable for the daily care of rodents and rabbits.
The strength lies in calm, natural variation: suitable for enriching hay, stimulating foraging, or making an enclosure more interesting in an edible way. In doing so, De Knaagdier Kruidenier® aligns well with what DRD stands for: carefully choosing what truly feels right for both animal and owner.
Narrow-leaved plantain is a leaf product that suits owners well who want to make the daily feeding and haymaking moment more natural. The leaves have a firm, coarse texture, making them pleasant to scatter, mix in, or hide. This makes the product suitable for animals that enjoy sniffing, searching, and collecting small pieces.
For guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, and degus, narrow-leaved plantain is primarily a supplementary leaf variety alongside good hay and appropriate basic nutrition. For mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, gerbils, dwarf rats, and rats, it is especially fun as edible enrichment in a natural-style setup, sniffing box, digging box, or foraging time.
By offering the plantain scattered throughout, you make the food more interesting. Your animal has to smell, search, and select. This aligns better with natural behavior than putting everything in one food bowl.
Start with a small amount if your pet is not yet familiar with narrow-leaved plantain. This allows your pet to gradually get used to the smell, taste, and texture. Remove leftovers if they have become damp or dirty.
Narrow-leaved plantain works best when offered spread out. This stimulates searching, sniffing, and gathering, without your animal receiving a large portion all at once.
100% naturally dried narrow-leaved plantain.
This analysis shows that narrow-leaved plantain is a supplementary leaf variety and not a complete food. Therefore, use it as a small supplement alongside your animal's normal basic diet.
Dried Narrow-leaved Plantain is a complementary feed. Give it as variety and not as a replacement for the daily basic diet. For guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, and degus, hay remains the most important basis. For mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, gerbils, dwarf rats, and rats, plantain is particularly interesting as foraging and enrichment material.
Store dried leaves in a dry, cool, and tightly sealed place. This way, the scent, color, and texture are preserved as well as possible. Always check that herbs and leaves remain clean and dry in the enclosure.
You use narrow-leaved plantain as a supplementary feed, as a topping through hay, in a bedding mix, or as part of a foraging session.
No, narrow-leaved plantain is not a staple food. It is a complementary feed and intended as a small variation alongside the normal basic diet.

Store the leaves in a dry, cool, and tightly sealed place. Remove any leftovers from the enclosure when they have become damp or dirty.
