Product description

Hazelnut Snack Sticks with Vegetables & Herbs 50 g

Hazelnut Chew Sticks are natural chew sticks made from young hazel branches, coated with a vegetable and herb topping. Your pet can sniff them, discover the topping, nibble off pieces, and then continue gnawing on the sturdy hazel stick. This makes these sticks fun as a snack, chewing material, and a small foraging moment all in one.

These chew sticks are especially great for owners who want to offer natural chewing material with just a little extra appeal. A regular branch is already interesting, but the vegetable and herb layer often makes your pet curious more quickly. At DRD, when it comes to chewing material, we focus primarily on what your pet can do with it: hold it, investigate it, work with it, nibble, and be occupied at their own pace.

The sticks are approximately 18 cm long and have a diameter of about 1 cm. Due to this size, they are easy to place in the enclosure, stick in the hay corner, or use in a sniffing area. The product page features various varieties, such as Parsley, Carrot, and Red Beet.

Pros of Hazelnut Chew Sticks

Natural hazel branches with an extra layer of vegetables and herbs
Gives your pet something to sniff, hold, and nibble on
Sturdy structure for animals that like to work with natural materials
Nice to let loose, put in the hay corner, or place in a sniffing spot
Stimulates foraging as your animal can discover and explore the stick
Suitable for small and larger rodents and rabbits

Why choose Hazelnut Chewing Sticks?

Hazel branches have a sturdy structure. This makes them interesting for animals that like to nibble, explore, or work with natural materials. The vegetable and herb topping adds extra scent and flavor, making the stick immediately stand out more in the enclosure.

For animals that finish a regular snack quickly, these sticks are extra fun. First, there is the topping to discover, and then the hazel stick remains as natural gnawing material. Some animals gnaw on it immediately, while others drag the stick along, keep it, or come back to it later.

You can offer the sticks in various ways. Place one in the hay corner, tuck it in with the hay, put it in a foraging bin, or place it where your animal has to find it. This way, a small snack time immediately becomes a quiet activity.

For which animals are Hazelnut Chew Sticks suitable?

Hazelnut Chew Sticks are suitable as a natural gnawing and foraging variation for rodents and rabbits. Adjust usage to the animal species, the size of your animal, and how actively your animal engages with the gnawing material.

  • Mouse: suitable as a natural sniffing and gnawing stimulus. Mice can investigate the stick, climb on it, and nibble on it.
  • Dwarf hamster: suitable as a fragrant gnawing and foraging stimulus in a natural setting.
  • Hamster: suitable as a snack and gnawing moment in the enclosure, for example next to a hiding place or sniffing corner.
  • Gerbil: very fun as destruction and gnawing material. Gerbils can actively work on the hazel stick.
  • Dwarf gratin: suitable as a gnawing and foraging stimulus, tailored to the actual size of your animal.
  • Rat: suitable as a sturdy stick to hold, examine, and gnaw on.
  • Guinea pig: suitable as a natural herbal and gnawing variation alongside hay, guinea pig food, and fresh vegetables.
  • Rabbit: suitable as natural enrichment for nibbling, exploring, and moving around the enclosure.
  • Chinchilla: suitable as a small, conscious variation on herbs and gnawing alongside hay, herbs, leaves, and branches.
  • Degu: suitable as a gnawing and foraging variation alongside hay, herbs, leaves, and appropriate basic food.

Use & offer

Place one Hazelnut Chew Stick loosely in the enclosure, near the hay corner, or in a sniffing area. Your animal can decide for itself whether to discover the topping first, move the stick, or nibble on the wood immediately.

Do you want to make foraging an extra fun moment? Then don't place the stick in the food bowl as standard, but in a spot where your animal has to find it. For example, among hay, next to a tunnel, near a platform, or in a natural setup.

For small animals, you can offer a single stick as a larger sniffing and gnawing object. For larger animals such as guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, and degus, you can use the stick as a distinct gnawing and snacking stimulus in the hay corner or foraging area.

Usage & consumption

Hazelnut Chew Sticks contain approximately 50 grams. How long they last depends on the number of sticks in the package, how many you offer at a time, and how actively your animal chews on them. Consider this a practical guideline, not a fixed dosage.

Usage To offer Use per package
Economical use 1 stick at a time depending on how many sticks are in the package
Multiple animals multiple sticks at the same time increases faster in group animals
Active rodents Check regularly and replace when necessary depending on gnawing behavior

Mijn hamster is er gek op en knabbelt er graag op los. Fijn dat het ook verantwoord zonder suiker is dus kan net met een gerust hart geven. Heb nu de peterselie maar ga ze zeker allemaal uitproberen.
