Product description

Trixie Suspension Bridge 27 cm for mice and pygmy rats

The Trixie Suspension Bridge 27 cm is a wooden suspension bridge for real climbers such as mice and pygmy rats. The suspension bridge consists of two playful levels connected to each other, allowing your animal to climb, balance, explore, and use the elevated space in their enclosure.

For animals that enjoy climbing, this is a fun way to add an extra challenge. Mice like to use their enclosure in layers, and pygmy rats often find extra routes and hanging spots interesting as well. With this suspension bridge, you turn an empty corner or open space in the enclosure into an active climbing element.

In short

  • Wooden suspension bridge of approx. 27 × 17 × 7 cm
  • Suitable for true climbers such as mice and pygmy rats
  • With two playful floors
  • Easy to attach in a wire cage
  • Offer only under supervision and check regularly for wear

Advantages of the Trixie Suspension Bridge 27 cm

Provides extra height and challenge in the enclosure
Ideal for small animals that love to climb and clamber
Two floors provide more movement and variety
Easy to hang with the hanging system
Combines nicely with mouse platforms & ladders , hammocks, and tunnels

Why choose a suspension bridge?

Mice and pygmy rats are active animals that enjoy exploring their surroundings. An enclosure becomes more interesting when there are multiple routes, heights, and resting points. A suspension bridge helps to make better use of vertical space and gives your animal something to discover.

For mice, a suspension bridge is particularly fun as a climbing route between different parts of the cage. Think of a route from a platform to a hammock, or a playful transition between two sides of the enclosure. For pygmy rats, the suspension bridge can serve as an extra challenge, especially when it is safely accessible and combined with larger resting areas.

This product is particularly suitable for animals that can really climb. That is why we deliberately place this suspension bridge for mice and pygmy rats. For hamsters and dwarf hamsters, this type of hanging climbing toy makes less sense, because they are less skilled climbers and have a poorer ability to judge depth.

How do you use the Trixie Suspension Bridge?

  • Hang the bridge securely from railings or a safe attachment point.
  • Make sure your animal can easily reach it via a platform, ladder, branch, or other stable route.
  • Do not use the suspension bridge as a standalone high crossing without safe access.
  • Ensure that any potential fall is broken by bedding, platforms, or other safe structures underneath.
  • Regularly check whether the bridge and suspension points are still sturdy and in good condition.

Use the suspension bridge as part of a complete setup. Combine it, for example, with platforms, ladders, hammocks, tunnels, and hiding places. This creates an enclosure where your animal can move, climb, rest, and choose which route to take.

For which animals is the Trixie Suspension Bridge 27 cm suitable?

  • Mouse: suitable as a climbing bridge, waypoint, and playful element of a well-designed mouse enclosure. Mice are good climbers and enjoy using differences in height.
  • Dwarf rat: suitable as a small suspension bridge or an extra climbing challenge. Combine the bridge with more spacious platforms and hanging spots, as dwarf rats also like to rest together.

For hamsters, dwarf hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, and degus, this suspension bridge is less suitable as a standard enclosure feature. For these animals, it is preferable to choose furnishings that better suit their way of moving, such as tunnels, houses, stable platforms, or natural hiding places.

Frequently asked questions about the Trixie Suspension Bridge 27 cm

Is the Trixie Suspension Bridge 27 cm suitable for mice?

Yes, this suspension bridge is suitable for mice. Mice are good climbers and enjoy using hanging spots, platforms, and elevated routes.

Is this suspension bridge suitable for pygmy rats?

Yes, the suspension bridge can be suitable for pygmy rats as an extra climbing route or playful element. However, combine it with larger resting areas and safe routes, as pygmy rats like to lie together and need sufficient space.

Why do you not recommend this suspension bridge for hamsters?

Hamsters are not true climbers and have poor depth perception. For hamsters, low tunnels, houses, deep bedding, and stable platforms are usually a better choice than hanging climbing structures.

How do I hang the bridge safely?

Securely fasten the bridge and ensure your animal can easily access it via a platform, ladder, or other stable object. Place sufficient safe equipment under the bridge to break any potential fall.

Should I check the suspension bridge for wear?

Yes, check the bridge and suspension points regularly. Remove the suspension bridge from the enclosure if loose parts, sharp edges, or severe damage occur.

Can I combine this suspension bridge with hammocks?

Yes, that works very well. For mice and pygmy rats, you can combine the suspension bridge with hammocks, platforms, ladders, and tunnels to create a varied route through the enclosure.

Verder goed!
