Product description

13 Types of Coarse Leaf Mix for Rodents and Rabbits

Knaagdier Kruidenier® 13 Types Coarse Leaf Mix is a premium leaf mix containing coarsely cut fruit tree leaves, shrub leaves, and meadow leaves. The mix is formulated as a natural leaf variety for rodents and rabbits and is ideal for mixing with hay, using as a topping, or offering scattered throughout the enclosure.

DRD chooses this mix because it provides plenty of texture, scent, and variety without you having to combine loose leaves yourself. The coarse cut makes the product extra pleasant to scatter, hide, and use during foraging moments. This makes the daily feeding time more natural, richer, and more interesting for your animal.

De Knaagdier Kruidenier® – premium private label of DRD

This product is part of De Knaagdier Kruidenier®, the premium private label of DRD Knaagdierwinkel®. Under this brand, we select natural herbs, flowers, leaves, and mixes suitable for the daily care of rodents and rabbits.

The strength lies in calm, natural variation: suitable for enriching hay, stimulating foraging, or making an enclosure more interesting in an edible way. In doing so, De Knaagdier Kruidenier® aligns well with what DRD stands for: carefully choosing what truly feels right for both animal and owner.

Why choose a leaf mix with 13 varieties?

With a mix of 13 different leaves, you offer much more variety than with a single type of leaf. Your animal encounters different scents, textures, and shapes. This makes the hay-feeding or foraging moment more interesting and ensures that your animal has more opportunities to search, smell, and select.

This mix is particularly beneficial for herbivores such as guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, and degus. For these animals, dried leaves make a nice supplement alongside good hay and appropriate basic food. For mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, gerbils, dwarf rats, and rats, you can use the mix as a foraging stimulus, sniffing variety, or a natural bedding layer in appropriate portions.

The coarse texture makes the mix pleasant to scatter in the enclosure, mix with hay, or use in a sniffing box. This way, eating becomes not just about picking up food, but also about searching, choosing, and discovering.

For which animals is 13 Soorten Bladerenmix Coarse suitable?

  • Mouse: suitable as a foraging stimulus and natural scattering variation. Use tailored portions and combine with finer seeds, grains, or small foraging products if desired.
  • Dwarf hamster: suitable as a natural bedding layer or landscaping detail. Use small pieces and combine with seeds, flowers, or harvested products if desired.
  • Hamster: suitable as edible enrichment in a natural setup. For hamsters, this mix is especially fun to hide or mix into a dry forage layer.
  • Gerbil: suitable as an additional foraging layer. Gerbils can examine, move, and shred the coarse leaves.
  • Dwarf rat: suitable as a forage supplement, depending on group size and acceptance. Dwarf rats can vary in size, so dose according to use and behavior.
  • Rat: suitable as sniffing or digging box filling. Mix a little into a digging box, sniffing mat, or dry bedding layer.
  • Guinea pig: very suitable as supplementary leaf variety alongside hay and guinea pig food. Mix portions through the hay to make eating hay more interesting.
  • Rabbit: very suitable as a leaf variation alongside the daily hay routine. Use as a topping through hay, on a treat plate, or scattered throughout the enclosure.
  • Chinchilla: suitable as supplementary leaf variety. Combine with fiber-rich staple food, good hay, and a simple, natural herbal routine.
  • Degu: suitable as supplementary leaf variety. Use judiciously and tailored to a frugal, fiber-rich diet.

How do you offer 13 Types of Coarse Leaf Mix?

  • Mix a portion into the hay.
  • Scatter the leaves over several spots in the enclosure.
  • Use as a topping over herbs, vegetables, or a snack plate.
  • Hide pieces of leaf in a foraging mat, sniffing box, or digging box.
  • Combine with dried vegetables or flowers for more variety.
  • Use as a supplement to the daily basic diet.

Start slowly if your pet is not yet familiar with this leaf mix. This allows your pet to get used to the smell, taste, and texture. Remove any leftovers if they have become damp or dirty.

Usage & variation in brief

This leaf mix works best when offered scattered. This stimulates searching, sniffing, and selecting, while your animal encounters various scents and leaf textures.

  • Use measured portions at a time
  • Mix in hay or herbs
  • Scatter through a foraging layer or sniffing box
  • Combine with flowers or dried vegetables
  • Close the paper packaging or cardboard box tightly after use.
  • Store in a dry, cool, and airy place.

Compound

Apple leaves, pear leaves, blackberry leaves, raspberry leaves, cherry leaves, peach leaves, mulberry leaves, strawberry leaves, narrow-leaved plantain, broad-leaved plantain, dandelion leaves, nettle leaves and birch leaves.

Analysis

Crude protein 13%, crude fat 2%, crude fiber 22%, crude ash 8%.

This analysis is suitable for a natural, fiber-rich leaf mix that you can offer as a supplement to the daily basic diet. The coarse leaf structure comes into its own particularly well when mixed with hay, as a topping, or as a forage mix.

Packaging & fragility of dried leaves

Dried leaves are naturally very dry and therefore fragile. During transport and use, leaves may break or become slightly finer. This is characteristic of this type of natural product and does not detract from its usability: even smaller pieces are perfectly suitable for use mixed with hay, as a topping, or as a scattering mix.

DRD packages the leaves as carefully as possible. The small package is wrapped in paper and the large package in a cardboard box. This ensures the leaves remain as well protected, dry, and airy as possible.

Fijne bladerenmix met hele bladeren! Heel geschikt voor bijvoorbeeld degoes, chinchilla's en andere knaagdieren die dit eten als hoofdvoer. De bladeren ruiken en voelen vers en zijn van goede kwaliteit.
