• Hamster: only suitable with a suitable wire cage and low, safe placement. Avoid high points of impact, as hamsters are not true height climbers.
• Gerbil: limited suitability. Gerbils often live in deep burrows or terrariums, making a hanging wire platform not always practical. Use it only if it can be securely and lowly mounted.
• Dwarf rat: suitable as a resting and lookout spot in a wire cage. Dwarf rats can vary in size, so choose the size based on build and group use.
• Rat: very suitable as an extra sitting, resting, and lookout spot. Rats like to use multiple levels and can comfortably use a long platform to sit or lie down together.
• Guinea pig: not suitable as a standard platform. Guinea pigs are not climbers and primarily need floor space, spacious hiding places, and low, easily accessible furnishings.
• Rabbit: not suitable. Rabbits need larger, sturdier platforms or raised areas that suit their size and movement.
• Chinchilla: suitable as a perch and jumping platform in a suitable chinchilla cage. Place multiple platforms so that jumps remain logical and safe.
• Degu: suitable as an extra level, perch, or route in the cage. Degus enjoy using sturdy platforms and clear pathways.

How do you use the platform in the cage?

Securely attach the platform to the bars using the supplied mounting materials. After securing it, check that the platform does not wobble, slide, or bend. Preferably, position the platform so that your animal can easily get on and off it via another platform, a ladder, a branch, or a safe route.

For rats, chinchillas, and degus, you can combine multiple levels to create a pleasant route through the cage. For hamsters and gerbils, however, you must pay extra attention to fall height and stability. Place the platform low and do not use it as a high climbing structure.

Which size do you choose?

The Long Corner Platform is available in approx. 30 × 15 cm and 40 × 20 cm. Which size fits best depends on the animal species, the cage, the number of animals, and the location where you want to hang the platform.

• 30 × 15 cm: handy as an extra perch, small resting place, or intermediate platform in a compact cage.
• 40 × 20 cm: more spacious and pleasant when the plateau is actually used as a lounge area or group space.

For rats, chinchillas, and degus, the larger size is often more interesting if the cage has room for it. For small animals, safe placement is especially more important than a large platform.

Fastening and stability

The platform is attached to the bars. Check beforehand whether the bar spacing, bar thickness, and cage wall are suitable for the mounting materials. Tighten the fasteners firmly, but do not force anything. After installation, check that the platform hangs straight and does not tilt when you apply light pressure to it.

Does your cage have thin bars or is the bar spacing different? Then the washers or fasteners might fit slightly differently. Therefore, always check the stability before offering the platform to your animals.

Cleaning and maintenance

You can clean untreated wood with a dry brush or a slightly damp cloth. Allow the tray to dry thoroughly before replacing it. Because wood can absorb moisture, it is advisable to remove urine stains quickly and not leave the tray wet for extended periods.
