Product description

Versele-Laga Crispy Biscuit Nuts 70 g | 6 pieces

Versele-Laga Crispy Biscuit Nuts are crunchy biscuits for small rodents. The biscuits contain egg, cereals, and 7% nuts and are intended as a real treat for occasional use. The biscuit shape makes them easy to feed by hand, offer in small pieces, or use as a short foraging moment.

At DRD, for these types of snacks, we focus primarily on the right animal species, portion, and application. Crispy Biscuit Nuts is not a staple daily food, but a tasty snack for animals that deserve something crunchy occasionally. Due to the sugar, nuts, and fats in the composition, you give this snack consciously and in small quantities.

A real treat for every now and then

Crispy Nut Biscuits are a snack you choose primarily for that special moment. The biscuits are crunchy, richer in composition, and appealing due to the combination of egg, grains, and nuts. This makes them great as a reward, but also something to consume in moderation.

Therefore, do not give these biscuits in unlimited quantities and do not use them as a daily staple. A small piece is often enough, especially for small animals. For rats, it is easier to share a biscuit among multiple animals or use it in a food puzzle.

Do you want to encourage foraging behavior more often? Then usually use a portion of the normal food and save Crispy Biscuit Nuts for occasional use. This way, the snack remains special and you prevent rich extras from becoming too much of a factor.

For which animals is Crispy Biscuit Nuts suitable?

  • Mouse: suitable as a small treat or reward. Give a very small piece and optionally hide it among sniffing material.
  • Dwarf hamster: only very sparingly as a small snack. Due to the sugar and nuts, this is not a snack to give often; for animals prone to diabetes, it is preferable to choose a different snack.
  • Hamster: suitable as an occasional treat. Optionally, break the cookie into smaller pieces and hide a piece in the hamsterscape.
  • Gerbil: suitable as a small, rich snack for occasional use. Gerbils love to forage, so hiding a small piece is often more fun than feeding them directly from a bowl.
  • Dwarf rat: suitable as a small reward, tailored to the size and activity of your animals. Dwarf rats can vary, so adjust the quantity to your own animals.
  • Rat: suitable as a treat or reward. Rats enjoy searching for a piece of biscuit in a snuffle mat, food puzzle, egg carton, or Ratscaping spot.

For guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, and degus, we prefer snacks that better suit their daily diet, such as hay, herbs, leaves, flowers, or appropriate vegetable snacks. This nut biscuit is especially suitable for small omnivorous rodents as a genuine occasional treat.

How do you use these biscuits?

Give Crispy Biscuit Nuts occasionally as a snack alongside the daily basic food. For small animals, it is better to break the biscuit into pieces. This way, you can portion smaller and turn one biscuit into multiple snack moments.

You can offer the biscuits in various ways:

  • a small piece from the hand as a reward;
  • in pieces hidden in bedding or sniffing material;
  • in a food puzzle, snack roll, or food ball;
  • in an egg carton or cardboard roll for rats;
  • as a brief moment of contact during taming;
  • divided among several animals, so that each animal gets a small piece.

For animals that like to hoard, check that no old pieces are left lying in the nest or in storage spots. This keeps the enclosure fresh and tidy.

Foraging with Crispy Biscuit Nuts

The biscuits are great to use as a short foraging snack. Break a biscuit into small pieces and hide them in different places. Your animal will then have to search, sniff, and discover before the snack is found.

For hamsters and gerbils, you can hide a small piece in a dry foraging zone. For mice, you can place a few crumbs between paper or bedding. For rats and pygmy rats, you can use a piece in a snuffle mat, food puzzle, or Ratscaping setup.

Use small portions for this. Precisely because the snack is rich and appealing, you don't need much to still turn it into a fun scavenger hunt.

Composition and analysis

Composition: egg and egg products, sugar, cereals, vegetable by-products, nuts (7%), minerals, oils and fats, milk and by-products.

Analysis: protein 11.0%, fat content 12.0%, crude fiber 0.4%, crude ash 2.8%.

This composition is suitable for a rich biscuit snack with egg, nuts, sugar, and fats. Therefore, serve these cookies consciously as a treat and not as an unlimited or daily snack.

Save

Store the biscuits in a cool, dry, and tightly sealed place. This will keep them crisp and fragrant. Close the packaging tightly after use or use a sealable storage container.

Do not place the snacks in a warm or humid place. Crispy biscuits stay freshest when stored in a dry place.

Good to know

Crispy Nut Biscuit is a rich snack containing sugar, nuts, egg, milk solids, and fats. This makes the biscuits tasty and appealing, but also something to be given with care. A small piece is usually enough for a nice snack moment.

For animals prone to diabetes, it is preferable to choose a sugar-free snack. This is especially important if your animal is sensitive to sugar or if you consciously want to maintain a moderate snack routine.

Do not give this snack as a standard practice on top of many other extras. If you want to give your animal something to do daily, primarily use regular food as foraging material and save these biscuits for occasional use.
