Are you looking for an atmospheric and safe wooden house for your rodent? Then you have come to the right place at DRD Knaagdierwinkel® ! We have a large assortment of natural wooden rodent houses that fit perfectly in a naturally furnished residence.
A wooden house is not only a cute addition to the enclosure, it is also functional. Wood is a natural material that fits the instinctive behavior of rodents. In the wild, rodents also like to hide in natural structures, so why not offer that at home too?
Our wooden houses come in all shapes and sizes, suitable for different rodent species such as hamsters, dwarf hamsters, mice, gerbils, guinea pigs, chinchillas and even rats . With each product we clearly indicate for which animal species it is suitable. This way you can be sure that your pet has enough space and comfort.
Please note: wooden houses are not indestructible. And they don't have to be! Rodents love to tinker with their interior a bit themselves. Making an entrance a bit bigger, gnawing an extra air hole or just sanding the wood - it's all part of it. This way your animal stays mentally active and shows its natural behavior.
Did you know that…
- Wooden houses can help wear down teeth.
- Wood does not retain heat like plastic can.
- Some houses have a flat roof that can also be used as a lookout post.
Frequently asked questions about wooden rodent houses
Are the wooden houses safe for my rodent?
Yes, we only offer wooden houses made from animal-friendly, untreated woods or safely treated wood. No toxic paint or glue!
My rodent is gnawing at the house. Is that bad?
Not at all! Gnawing is natural behavior. As long as the house remains sturdy and has no sharp splinters, it is actually a good form of occupation and dental care.
How do I choose the right size?
For each house we state the dimensions and for which animals it is suitable. Pay attention to the size of your animal and whether the house has a flat roof or multiple entrances - some species like that extra.
