Gerbils are active, curious animals that enjoy searching, sorting, and foraging. A varied seed mix is often more suitable for this than a uniform diet. Bunny Nature GerbilDroom Expert caters to this with a wide mix of grains, seeds, flakes, herbs, and insects. This makes it not only a complete diet but also one that aligns well with gerbils' natural feeding habits.
The addition of mealworms and house crickets is a significant plus. Gerbils are granivorous, but they do need animal protein in their diet. This food takes that into account. Ingredients like dandelion and ribwort plantain also make the mix appealing to pet owners who prefer a food with recognizable, natural ingredients.
Bunny Nature GerbilDroom Expert is intended as a complete staple food for gerbils. It's a daily staple food, not a supplementary snack. Because the mix is formulated without pellets or extrudates, it's ideal for pet owners who prefer a true mix of different components rather than a uniform kibble.
This is also a good choice for gerbils who like to actively consume their food. The various seeds, flakes, and other ingredients encourage them to search, select, and eat in small portions spread throughout the day.
If you're looking for pellet-free gerbil food , GerbilDroom Expert is an interesting option. This food is pellet-free and contains no extrudates. Instead, you choose a granivore mix that includes plata millet, canary seed, quinoa, bean sprouts, amaranth, herbs, and insects. This is a good fit for gerbils, who benefit from a variety of textures and ingredients.
For owners who value natural ingredients and foraging behavior, this type of mix often provides a good foundation. The food is clearly structured yet rich enough to serve as a staple diet.
Yes, extra attention to animal proteins is important for fat-tailed gerbils. Bunny Nature GerbilDroom Expert is a very good base, as the mix already contains mealworms and house crickets, but for fat-tailed gerbils, it's wise to also offer additional insects. Consider dried mealworms, crickets, or other suitable insect mixes.

According to the manufacturer, GerbilDroom Expert is so well-balanced that it can be freely fed. This means: fill the food dish, let your gerbils eat it all, and then refill it. This gives them the chance to eat the entire mixture and not just pick out their favorite parts.
Additionally, provide good-quality hay and fresh drinking water daily. For young gerbils in their early growth phase, extra support may be desirable, but for adult gerbils, this mix is intended as a complete daily diet.
