Chinchilla Cages – Tall, Secure Cages with Climbing Spaces (Suite Royale)
Chinchilla cages – high, practical and designed for climbing and jumping
A chinchilla cage is more than just a cage: it's the daily habitat of an animal that naturally loves to climb, jump, and perch high. That's why you'll find tall, sturdy cages with multiple levels and easy access for cleaning. As specialists in rodents and rabbits since 2011, we select cages that work well in practice: stable, spacious, and cleverly designed with platforms, stairs, and resting areas. Tip: Complete your setup with chinchilla platforms , tunnels , and a safe drinking solution with chinchilla drinking bottles .

How do you choose the right chinchilla cage?
When choosing a chinchilla cage, pay particular attention to height (climbing/jumping), stability (no wobbly construction), and practical maintenance (large doors, easy access to everything). A metal cage is generally the most practical, as chinchillas are true rodents. Also beneficial: bars that encourage climbing and a design with multiple routes so your animals don't have to live on top of each other.
Size & guideline: space, height and fall distance
Chinchillas prefer to live in groups of at least two and need plenty of room to move around. Height is important in terms of layout, but also ensure a safe layout: create levels/platforms at different heights, and prevent deep falls by keeping height differences under 50 cm. Smart design: how to make your cage "chinchilla-proof"
Make your cage a logical climbing path: combine platforms , stairs , tunnels , and a comfortable resting area. Place platforms so your chinchilla can jump safely without a significant fall. Add multiple hiding places so each animal can choose its own quiet spot. And for practicality: preferably place a water bottle where it can't be chewed (glass is often a good option).
Checklist: this is what you want to check off
✔ Cage is high enough to allow climbing/jumping.
✔ Large doors: you can easily clean and feed everywhere.
✔ Layout prevents deep falls (work with intermediate platforms).
✔ Multiple resting places/hiding areas for all animals.
✔ Drinking bottle placed safely (preferably out of reach of gnawing).
Safety
✔ Place the cage in a quiet, draught-free place and not in full sun.
✔ Regularly check locks, bars and connections (especially with extensions).
✔ Place platforms securely and avoid large open gaps between levels.
✔ Avoid loose, non-roastproof materials in the cage (such as plastic lying around).
FAQ
Is a taller cage better for chinchillas?
Often, yes, because chinchillas like to climb and sit high. It's important, however, to safely divide the cage with intermediate levels to prevent them from falling too far.
Which cage is useful if I want to expand later?
Then the Suite Royale 100 is ideal: you start with the basic unit and can expand with an extension unit for extra living space and height.
Do I need anything else besides a cage?
Yes, good furnishings make all the difference. Think of platforms, hiding places, and a safe water bottle. We have separate categories for sand baths and bath sand: sandboxes and chinchilla sand .
