SECOND CHANCE
These are products with light signs of use (for example, a return or showroom piece). What you can expect is described with the item.

Maximum enrichment without losing floor space

Do you want a guinea pig cage that not only offers sufficient space but also extra opportunities for enrichment, rest, and variety? Then the C&C® Cage Wire Cube Cage 4x2 + Loft 2x2 is an excellent and well-thought-out choice.

This original C&C® guinea pig cage from the United Kingdom combines a spacious main enclosure at floor level with an extra-large loft of 2x2 modules. Ideal for guinea pig owners who want to keep their enclosure organized, but still want to create more zones.

Advantages of this C&C® guinea pig cage with large loft

Spacious guinea pig cage with extra large loft (2x2)
More enrichment and zones (e.g., eating, resting, sheltering)
Original C&C® panels (35 × 35 cm) with safe mesh size (±37 mm)
Coroplast tray – waterproof, hygienic and easy to clean
Fully modular system – easy to expand further
Original European C&C® cage – no Chinese imitation
! Note: The Coroplast bottom tray is not chew-proof (see tips further down)

Why choose a C&C® guinea pig cage with 2x2 loft?

Guinea pigs love structure, a clear view, and variety. With a 2x2 loft, you create extra living zones without reducing the floor area of the main enclosure. Consider:

  • A separate dining area
  • A quiet sleeping or hiding zone
  • Extra enrichment for curious guinea pigs

Important to know: The loft does not count as floor area according to LICG guidelines. The main enclosure therefore remains the sole determining factor for the number of guinea pigs.

Dimensions
Basic dimensions: approx. 145 × 75 cm
Loft: 2x2 C&C® modules
Total height: approx. 75 cm
Base floor area: approx. 1.09 m²
Height of Coroplast tray: approx. 12 cm

LICG advice & space requirements for guinea pigs

Sufficient living space is essential for the well-being of guinea pigs. The LICG (National Information Centre for Companion Animals) recommends the following minimum floor areas (contiguous space):

  • 2 guinea pigs: minimum 0.9 m²
  • 3 guinea pigs: minimum 1.2 m²
  • 4 guinea pigs: minimum 1.5 m²

This C&C® Cage 4x2 has a floor area of approx. 1.09 m² (145 × 75 cm).

Suitable for 2 guinea pigs as a main enclosure
! For 3 or more guinea pigs, we recommend expanding with extra C&C® panels to ensure you comply with LICG guidelines and your guinea pigs have sufficient room to move around.

The 2x2 loft offers extra space for rest and enrichment, but according to the LICG, it does not count as floor area. Thanks to the modular C&C® system, this cage can easily be expanded into a comfortable, fully-fledged, and future-proof living space.

Expanding this C&C® cage for (dwarf) rabbits – what is possible and what is not

This C&C® Cage 4x2 (145 × 75 cm) is fundamentally designed as a full-fledged enclosure for guinea pigs. However, (dwarf) rabbits require more floor space to move around, run, and stretch out comfortably. Thanks to the modular C&C® system, it is possible to expand this cage, provided this is done correctly.

When is this cage suitable for rabbits?

  • Without extension: Suitable as a playpen or temporary run, not as a permanent enclosure.
  • With sufficient expansion: Suitable as a spacious rabbit run or living space, possibly in combination with another enclosure.

Expand with additional C&C® panels
The C&C® panels have a fixed size of 35 × 35 cm and are securely attached to each other with connectors at each corner. By adding extra panels in length and/or width, you increase the floor area of the cage.

This can be completely flat, at floor level – exactly what rabbits need.

What is Coroplast and why is it used in C&C® cages?

Coroplast is a ribbed polypropylene plastic that is popular worldwide within the C&C® system. The material is:

  • Waterproof
  • Lightweight
  • Hygienic
  • Easy to clean
  • Foldable with raised edges

This keeps hay , bedding , and droppings neatly in the guinea pig cage.

Please note: Coroplast is not chew-proof. The material is non-toxic, but gnawing must be discouraged.

Gnawing at the Coroplast base – practical tips

Some guinea pigs gnaw at the bottom of the litter box out of curiosity. This is usually harmless, but it can cause damage.

What can you do?

  • Offer sufficient gnawing material (willow branches, wooden toys)
  • Provide enrichment such as snuffle mats and hay balls.
  • Gently redirect unwanted gnawing behavior
  • Protect the edges of the bottom tray if necessary.

For which animals is this C&C® cage suitable?

Guinea pigs: Suitable as a full-fledged main enclosure
Rabbits: ! Suitable as a run or play area, and with the right extensions also suitable as a main enclosure.

C&C Cages Manual

View the manual for the C&C Cage cages .

For which animals is this C&C® cage suitable?

This C&C® cage is perfect for guinea pigs. For rabbits, the cage is only suitable as a safe indoor play area or extra run, not as permanent housing.

How many guinea pigs fit in a 4x2 cage with a loft?

A 4x2 C&C® cage is suitable for 2 to 3 guinea pigs, with sufficient space to run, play, and rest. The loft offers an extra level but does not count fully as floor area.

Is the staircase to the loft safe for guinea pigs?

Yes! The stairs are specially designed so that guinea pigs can use them safely and easily, without actually having to climb.

What is Coroplast and why is it useful?

Coroplast is a lightweight yet sturdy plastic that is waterproof, easy to clean, and craft-friendly. Ideal as a hygienic bottom tray. Please note: the bottom tray is not chew-proof . Therefore, ensure there is sufficient gnawing material and distractions.

Is the cage easy to clean?

Certainly! The smooth Coroplast floor is easy to wipe clean with a damp cloth or mild cleaner. This keeps the enclosure fresh and hygienic.

Can I expand or modify this cage?

Yes! C&C® cages are modular. You can add extra panels, levels, stairs, or doors to customize the enclosure to your needs (and those of your animals).

Is this an original C&C® cage or an imitation?

This is an original C&C® Cage, straight from the United Kingdom – no Chinese counterfeit. Quality, safety, and durability guaranteed.

If guinea pigs gnaw on the Coroplast tray, is that a problem?

Guinea pigs naturally enjoy gnawing, and sometimes they try to do so on the Coroplast tray as well. Fortunately, this is not dangerous or toxic, but it is a waste of the tray. When the gnawing is done out of curiosity, it often stops on its own. However, if the behavior persists, it can lead to damage to the tray. In that case, we speak of problem behavior, and it is important to prevent and discourage it.

What can you do?

  • Offer plenty of gnawing material , such as willow branches, hay rolls, or wooden toys.
  • Provide distraction using snuffle mats , hay balls, or treat balls.
  • Distract your guinea pigs when you see them gnawing on the bottom tray. A short command such as “no” or “bad dog” can help, followed by a safe alternative.
  • If necessary, protect the edges of the Coroplast with a strip or temporarily place something in front of it.

In short: gnawing at the Coroplast must indeed be discouraged to prevent damage.
