The Trixie Wooden Rodent Enclosure is a very spacious enclosure made of wood. The enclosure has a deep base that provides space for more than 25 cm of ground cover, ideal for hamsterscaping ! Viewing the animals at the front is possible thanks to the acrylic glass. Both the lid at the front of the enclosure and the top can be opened, providing easy access during changing. The lid is fitted with metal mesh and secured with a lock system.

Which rodents is this wooden rodent enclosure suitable for?

The rodent enclosure is suitable for mice, dwarf hamsters and hamsters. However, we do not recommend the enclosure for Gerbils, Degus and Syrian Hamster females because of the wooden material, because they are known for their heavy gnawing behavior. The higher plateaus must be secured for a dwarf hamster so that the animals cannot fall off or have a soft landing if this happens.

Is Hamsterscaping possible with this accommodation?

Certainly! A beautiful hamsterscaping environment can be created within this enclosure. Thanks to the high edge of the enclosure, a nice thick layer of ground cover of up to 25 cm can be used. The closed walls on the sides and back give the animals a safe feeling and also ensure that any mess remains within the enclosure. For convenience, we have placed all hamsterscape ground covers in a clear category, it is also fun to mix ground covers together to create a diggable environment for the rodents.

Is the wooden enclosure easy to clean?

Wood has the major disadvantage that it absorbs moisture, but fortunately Trixie has taken that into account. The wood has therefore been treated with a protective layer, but large moisture spots can still affect the wood. For extra protection, we recommend applying an extra layer of clear varnish to the accommodation, especially in areas that can become very wet. . Most rodents choose one corner or spot to urinate, with the urine often soaking into the ground cover and not coming into contact with the wood.

Furthermore, the lid and the upper part of the front can be opened, providing easy access to the contents of the enclosure and making it easy to clean.

Does the stay include contents?

No, unfortunately not, the content is only an example of what is possible and what a design could look like. It also immediately gives an impression of what fits into the accommodation and how the parts can be placed, for example.
