A Sunlight Heat Lamp is mainly known for reptiles, but some rodents such as Gerbils and Degus also benefit greatly from a sunlight lamp. Degus actually need a daily sunbath to keep their Vitamin D3 at a good level. Thanks to sunlight (UVB), Vitamin D3 is produced in the body. A deficiency of Vitamin D3 can cause various deficiency diseases, such as dental and bone problems.
✔ Mimics the natural UV radiation of the sun
✔ Does not emit dangerous non-terrestrial UVB radiation
✔ Day-active animals from the tropics and subtropics are optimally provided with UVB (8-10%)
✔ Supports vitamin D3 photosynthesis and prevents metabolic diseases
✔ Emitted UVA rays stimulate activity, reproductive behavior and appetite of the animals
NB! The lamp should not be touched with bare fingers, only at the fitting.
The lamp is intended for Sunbathing Diurnal animals such as Gerbils and Degus. The safety of the animals is the most important thing when using a lamp. The lamp must be mounted in such a way that the animals cannot reach it to gnaw on it, for example. The cable must also be completely concealed or protected so that the animals cannot gnaw on it.
Define the natural habitat and time of activity of your animals. For example, do not turn on the lamp at times when the animals naturally sleep.
The optimum distance from the lamp to the animals is between 10 - 20 cm.
