For mice and rats, the hammock may be hung higher in the enclosure. Mice and rats are good climbers who like to sleep at the top of the enclosure. Make sure that any fall is always broken.

For Dwarf hamsters and hamsters, the hammock should be hung a little lower, these animals cannot climb very well and do not see depth. The exception to this is the Chinese Dwarf Hamster, which can climb better.

For guinea pigs, the hammock should be hung slightly lower and preferably tight, so that the animals can easily get in and out.
