rodents during the winter

Rodents during cold days

For many rodents, the winter progresses differently, yet there are ways to support the rodents during the winter. We show you some products and explain how you can use them during cold days.

Heat Pads for rodents

There are nowadays special heat pads or pads for rodents. These can be heated in the microwave and then give off heat for hours. These heat pads are only suitable for indoor animals. We do not recommend outdoor rodents. Rodents that are kept outside must make a thick winter coat on their own. A heat element can disrupt this process.

Warm ground cover

Give small rodents a nice warm ground cover such as cotton. This insulates the heat and gives the animals extra heat. There are special fleece ground covers for rabbits and guinea pigs, which are nice and warm and soft for the legs.

Extra Nest material

Give small animals extra nesting material, rabbits, guinea pigs, ratjes warm baskets and outside rabbits extra straw for good heat insulation.

Protect the water bottle in the winter

The drinking bottle of outside rabbits must be well protected against frost and freezing. If the drinking water freezes, the animals can no longer drink. A special thermo cover can offer a solution.
