Beaphar Anti-Fungal is a skin spray for guinea pigs, rabbits, rats and mice to combat fungal infections, also known as ringworm. The spray based on Miconazole is a broad spectrum anti-fungal product and quickly and effectively combats fungi on the skin.
✔ Based on highly effective active ingredient Miconazole
✔ To combat fungi
Ringworm is often first visible on the head of the animal, and then spreads to other parts of the body. Affected areas are round, red and often covered with white flaky skin flakes. With ringworm, the spots heal from the inside, creating a ring-shaped spot. Contamination occurs through direct contact via objects (e.g. brush). Ringworm infections are transmissible to humans. Timely treatment helps to prevent transmission to humans. In rabbits and guinea pigs, this disease causes no or mild itching (in humans, it does cause a lot of itching!). Fungal infections often occur with reduced resistance, or when housing is not optimal (for example, too humid).
The symptoms are similar, but ringworm is caused by a fungus and scabies is caused by a mite. With an infection with ringworm, the animal has no or mild itching, with scabies extreme itching. This is because the mites burrow into the skin to lay eggs there. The intense itching results in frequent scratching and biting. This initially leads to loss of fur and bald spots and later to scabs and possibly bacterial infections. Sores usually start on the lips and nose, later spreading to the head, neck and rest of the body. Scabies is highly contagious to other animals and to humans. Another species of mite is Cheyletiella, a so-called "fur mite". These mites live on the surface of the skin. They cause no or mild itching. The symptoms are flakes in the coat (dandruff). This disease can cause mild skin inflammation in humans, but is generally not very contagious to humans. To treat mange and fur mites you can use Beaphar Anti Mange.
